Pretty Much Encapsulates the Hypocrisy of the Modern 'Left'

It's a show that glamourises a hereditary monarchy and peerage that is adored by many younger people, who belong to the same generation that abhors the British Royal Family.

Yet, these are the people who will also argue that Harry and Meghan's children should have royal titles.

Which all goes to prove, there is a MAJOR disconnect between the traditional left (committed to socioeconomic equality for EVERYONE, believes in consistent and non-hypocritical principles, and believes *all* forms of systemic privilege, nepotism, entitlement and hereditary-based power is wrong, irrespective of race and gender) and the modern 'left' (doesn't care about socioeconomic inequality just as long as they can be part of the top tiers, hypocritical/inconsistent when it comes to principles based on what favours *them*, and supports any form of systemic privilege, including the aristocracy and the monarchy, just as long as they are a part of it, and, preferably, in charge of it).

See also Black Panther (a film series I otherwise mostly like), where a hero is defined by his hereditary and royal *privilege* (and likewise, The Lion King).

Bear in mind also, the hate many 'feminists' and Black women have directed at Bernie Sanders and the 'Bernie Bros', because ultimately, tearing down the system, as Bernie wishes to do, means women and/or Black people don't get their chance to be at the *top* of said hierarchial system.

Of course, I'm an evil entitled white man for saying all of this, but unlike Prince Harry, I'm just some poor schmoe who wasn't born rich and was never handed a top job or position of power/wealth, simply on account of my 'birthright'.

Yes, I am a white man, who thus benefits from white and male privilege (and fwiw, I've never denied that life is comparatively easier for white people and for men, than it is for women and/or Black people; comparing *like-for-like* the average white man has it easier than the average Black woman, but, as I say, that's if we compare like-for-like, rather than a white man raised in poverty with a Black princess), but that still doesn't make me a prince, or a politician, or a CEO, or any other 'elite', just like billions of other white men, white women, Black women, Black men, and so on.

Well, the people don't watch this series for any underlying political meaning. They watch it because it is bright, colorful, glamorous and exciting.

And nude scenes. I suspect that has something to do with people watching it as well.

"I've never denied that life is comparatively easier for white people and for men, than it is for women"

Even white women?

reply

White women have very hard lives.
