I thought Curse of Chucky was pretty good (at least way better than my super low expectations). Wasn't crazy about Cult of Chucky and I have no idea how they'll make TV show work though.
shareTo each their own but i hated Curse of Chucky (bad kills, poor writing, no likable characters which a a trend after 3 as there is dislikable characters and that chili scene i hated) and so does one of my youtube friends Ocpcommunications if you can see his hilarious rant on the film but the film did at least tried for me but still fails, i thought Bride was mediocre but least it had a better director but the writing sucks and i despised the last 3 movies, Cult was horrible as hell and Mancini has turned this character into a joke, he needs to go.
I agree a TV show sounds dumb, a remake is even kicking this dead horse of a franchise even further as the series is already dead and Chucky needs to be retired already with the other horror icons like michael, Jason, Freddy, Pinhead, Leatherface, Ghostface, Jigsaw etc. and to be buried otherwise they'll be zombies that need to be shot in the head and bury their corpses. It's time to make new mainstream cinematic horror icons and new franchises already like A Quiet Place for example is spawing a new franchise.
Cult was more mediocre than horrible, nothing will beat Seed in terms of bad sequels.
shareJust look at that poster, the doll looks conventionally creepy. That's the wrong kind of creepy, this is true creepy.

They keep getting Chucky wrong, he's too polished these days.
The Chucky on this poster is adorable.
shareFrankly I am totally confused by what they are doing here.
I have heard it described as a "Reboot".
The rather vague description here sounds like a remake of the first one to me.
But there are some problems here.
Andy is played by Gabriel Bateman who is around 12yo or 13.
Who would be buying a Doll for a kid this age, regardless of what it is supposed to do.
A robot; YES, a doll, NO.
The thing that made the original movie work is that Andy (Alex Vincent) made the part of Chucky seem believable. He plays a young enough character to make us sympathize with him and believe him. By the time we got to Childs play 3, the kid was older and the movie was losing the impact.
So WHAT is the real premise HERE?
I understand that with CGI, we can make Chucky more realistic that ever, but at what point do we not see a doll as opposed to a midget psychopath.
BTW Bateman was quite good in Lights out and handles the horror genre well.
I just dont see how he fits in here. Maybe I am missing some information.
The original idea was a sound plot and made for a good movie and was pulled off by some decent acting. Its already been done and sadly OVERdone too many times
Agreed. The franchise needs to reach a logical end. And I also agree about Child's Play 3. That was the last genuine true Chucky film. And it's actually my favorite out of the entire franchise. Though, I must say, I kinda enjoyed Bride of Chucky. But I didn't enjoy any of the films after that.
shareThe answer is simple... don't want them? Don't watch them. Wow! That was hard, right?
