Was it beyond reason for Disney to have considered an actor of color for the role of baby Luke?

Looks like more of the usual virtual signalling from Disney if you ask me.

Famously we got the not a Jedi but actually an utter buffoon (which John Boyega genuinely thought wasn't going to be the case despite reading the scripts) Finn and now yes, a female black lead, but oh look it turns out she's one of the evil disciples of Vader - a white man but voiced to make him sound more evil by a black man...

What a chance this was for Disney to break the mould and cast a young child of color in the young Luke Skywalker role.

And please, I do not want to hear the usual "Outrageous! Luke must be white, why can't you just create an original character of your own for a young black boy" garbage. It's a work of fiction. We all know we are watching actors playing roles fleshed out in a script. And that's all the more apparent in this kind of milking it for all it's worth nonsense than it would be anywhere else.

Making this kind of change would have been an act of true diversity rather than nonsense quota parts whilst our heroes remain the white men generation to generation white men...

You're either retarded or trolling. Probably both.

Yeah, I guess that's what you thought of the people who cast a women of color to play Hermione in the stage version of Harry Potter eh?

All one big troll eh? Or maybe these people had the IQ to realise that it didn't really matter... Ney, in fact they probably realised that in fact it did matter. Just not in a way some may appreciate...

You are very racist if you can't relate to fictional characters who look different than you. Grow the hell up.

reply

That's a particularly futile comment given that that is precisely my point as to why the casting should have been considered.

And I have the perfect match for that:

Queen Latifa!!!!

Luke was a white man in a new hope which was released in 1977, the character was played by mark hamill who is also white, you should watch the original trilogy.

And you should read the OP:-
