1st $1b breaker of the new covid world?

In normal times this would've probably equalled JW 1.5b or more, but now in covid world it be lucky to break 1b.. but I think it will do it as the Jurassic finale will be like that film EVERYONE has to see covid or not (more so than SW Ep 9 as that had the downer of Ep 8/Solo before to dampen enthusiasm.. not so with this, ok JW:FK wasnt too well regarded but it didn't turn audiences against the franchise like Last Jedi).

I just can't see any of the stuff thats due out before JW:D doing it - Black Widow, Bond, Dune, Top Gun2, Matrix4, Spiderman3, Dr Strange2, Batman.. Some will get close like 700-800m tho (Spidey & Dr Strange especially ..maybe even 900-950m)

I highly doubt this movie will break 1billion. The last one wasn't even that good and people are still not going to movie theatres like they used to. I doubt Jurassic Park 6 will be the one that does it.

reply

It's quite possible. People say they didn't like Fallen Kingdom (I did) but it still cracked a billion dollars.

reply

yes and comfortably - 1.3b (same as Last Jedi)

reply

Right? Plus this one is doing something different from the previous films, even the JW series. And the original cast is returning;well the ones that survived the first film. There are factors in its favor to do well financially. Now whether it hits a billion like the last two, I'm not sure.

reply

why is no one ever interested if something will crack 999,999,999 dollars or 1,000,000,001 dollars?

reply

Nah, the franchise isn't what it used to be. Avatar 2-5 are going to be the big busters.

reply

#2 perhaps but 3 through 5?

reply

Nah, I think Spider-Man: Far From Home will be the first to break $1 billion post-covid, especially if the rumors are true about Garfield and Maguire showing up. Word of mouth will carry that movie far.

reply

Who gives a fuck?
Do you get a percentage on their BO?

reply

Other than the random political rants, the most annoying part about moviechat is how obsessed people are with boxoffice numbers. It's the most mindless topic.

reply

I agree.
Third one would be the oscars and other useless awards.

These people cannot understand art so they need some practical indicator of its quality.
They are all avid believers of the J.Evans Pritcher scale from Dead Poets Society.

Pricks that have no place in art and showbusiness and should be relegated to some produce market.

I lolled
Yeah it's so weird. It's like instead of wanting to talk about the movie or explain why you like and don't like something, you'd rather talk about "oh shit, this didn't make enough to break even, it's a total bomb. What a shitty movie for sure"

reply

"oh shit, this didn't make enough to break even, it's a total bomb. What a shitty movie for sure" - ture, but the opposite is far worse: "this movie made xxdollars, which indisputably proves it's better than this other film that made only xdollars".

Such people are responsible for the abysmal state of cinema.

reply

Isn't it similar to this stupid American obsession with baseball statistics? Sometimes I doubt these people have ever seen a single match...

reply

Yes it is.
Many such stats obsessed idiots say that Michael Jordan is the greatest not because he is the greatest and played like the greatest, but because he has lots of rings (by their same genius logic, Scottie Pippen is also the greatest...)

I would say the box office obsession is also very American.
Maybe we're onto something here...

reply

EVERYONE SEEMS TO CHOOSE WHICH WILL BREAK A BILLION BASED ON WHICH THEY LIKE BEST.

reply

I wonder if it will get delayed.
