The daughter looks..
To have some type of deformity facially. Was this some type of exaggeration by makeup or is the actress actually this ugly? poor child.

shareHer picture on IMDB definitely looks better than she appeared in Hereditary but I'm guessing she has some sort of condition that most likely impedes her growth. There's no definitive date of birth listed for her but Wikipedia has her being born in "2002 or 2003" which would put here at 16 or 17 and she seems quite small for that age.
I did see a video on YouTube of her, her brother from Hereditary, and the director and she seemed like a well adjusted and even funny young lady.
I just think it’s a little weird to purposely find an underage girl who looks demonic. The filmmaker insists she’s happy as can be about the whole thing, but I have a teenage daughter and I have my doubts. How can this be good for her self esteem?

“Buzz’s girlfriend - WOOF!”
Edit: Deleted, meant to edit bc I said “Kevin’s girlfriend”. Actually the line goes “Buzz, Your girlfriend! WOOF!” I’ve been saying it wrong for almost two decades!
Interesting fact, I had no idea who the actress was in the pic and that Chris Columbus was not going to let “her” be exploited. Makes me rethink how I’ve used that line.
... I knew that something was off with the girl in hereditary, also the fact that she seemed way too young to be hanging with her older bro and his friends. She either wasn’t old enough literally, or mentally - either way I was so pissed when the mother sent her to the party with him. Knowing she had allergies and obviously didn’t feel comfortable around anyone from school.

I think that was one of the most uncomfortable parts of the movie, IMO. The fact that I had no idea how old the daughter was, added to the mental state the mother was when sending her young daughter with social issues out to a party.
shareYes I agree. Since I created this thread I looked up the actress's name and as it turns out she has a syndrome that affects facial growth. She was kind of exploited..
shareReally? Wow... I didn't know that... Not sure how I feel about it.
It wasn't the most sensitive of portrayals, but no one comes off looking good in that movie, save for perhaps the long suffering father/husband...
I disagree, the son was gorgeous. Though his casting was kind of strange as he looked kind of middle eastern in an anglo saxon looking family.
shareoh, sorry, I didn't mean physically ugly, I meant looked bad as in a bad state and maybe a bit unsympathetic...
Yeah, he looked good for a teen and didn't feel like the actor was too old as he was quite skinny, although he is pushing it in terms of age...
He did look a bit dark, casting wise, given the choice of parents, but I suppose they wanted a good actor, rather than to just look the part...
I wondered at first if he was supposed to be adopted, but then figured it was modern “woke” casting.
shareWhen Annie has the nightmare where she tells Peter she didn't want to have him and that she even try to have a miscarriage on her own, my guess is that he's from a different father (not from Steve). We know very little of the character's background stories (despite that the director wrote detailed biographies and backstories for all of the characters before even writing the screenplay and that he claims that the original cut of the film could have easily pushed over 3 hours, mostly consisting of more family dialog) so we can just guess (but that scene between Annie and Peter has many hints).
I'm curious about how a Director's Cut of the movie would be, or at least I'd like to see some deleted scenes added to the bonus features of the DVD/Bluray release.
Exaggerated by makeup and camera angles, etc...
She's not a beautiful girl, but not someone who you'd notice as being odd if you saw her at the supermarket... She's normal...
LOL calling a child "ugly" is the ultimate act of ugliness.
You must be hideous, kellcallie
You truly are a disgusting individual. Even if you’re trolling.
