He became a sword expert in 40-50 days
He started training with the woman in the diner around day 150. He stopped at around day 200.
Not enough time to be an expert. He would’ve needed 1000 days

You're probably right. But it's not like he was starting from scratch. He was already highly skilled in other forms of combat.

Keep in mind that after several tries, he likely already knew what his opponent would do. So he had a decided advantage since he had multiple tries (implied). More bothersome was that with this same advantage he couldn't win with a machine gun.
shareBut he only fought the assassin once with a sword, and beat her in the first attempt. Someone who can do swordplay while dodging a machine gun, got dominated by a guy who took 2 months of classes.
shareA bit of a reach on my part... but how do you know it was his first attempt ;)
shareThe movie has made a point to show his incremental improvements over his repeated attempts. Trying and failing over and over until winning is a recurrent theme, so they would have definitely shown it for the movie's final Boss fight.
Especially considering the actual end boss Mel Gibson who comes right after, gets steamrolled in seconds.
nah, he totally had loads of goes at that and learned her moves.
you could tell by the way he played with her .
they just didnt show it .
they didnt need to
its better they didnt
