[Breaking] Elijah Wood, Sean Astin condemn racism!!

For weeks celebrities had nothing better to do than talk about the quality of the show or discuss the series. But finally someone with courage addresses the elephant in the room!

Racism would be people insulting the actors based on their race or calling them slurs for accepting a role in the show.

Racism is not "Elves and Dwarves weren't black".

Is there any proof of the former occurring?

reply

They said "brought some racist trolls out of the woodwork"
That's proof enough for me.

reply

This is pretty desperate.

reply

Desperate?

reply

I'm talking about Amazon.

reply

Even worse was Amazon curating IMDB user reviews and removing any that rated the show less than 6/10 (most reviews that survived are 8/10 and above).

reply

Tolkien's Elves and Dwarves were NEVER black, why should they be black now?

Lack of creativity is part of the problem, these writers and showrunners just can't be bothered CREATING a new IP, they always want to leech off of existing ones, but they also want to cater to the new demographics, and this is where the thorny issue of "diversity in existing characters and species when little or none existed before" rears its ugly head.

Aside from that, the writing is bloody awful in this show.

reply

Dumbasses are trying to twist themselves into knots to come up with any sort of explanation for why Elves could be black. I've even seen them resort to saying "he called them fair, that doesn't necessarily mean fair skinned". And I guarantee these are the same people who used to call Tolkien a white supremacist and that orcs were stand ins for black people.

They also excuse the black Hobbits by saying "he called them browner of skin", completely ignoring every European ethnicity who are browner of skin than the average English person.

Sam and Frodo need to go back to their implied homo relationship and stfu

reply

The bloke between Sam and Frodo looks miserable. What's up with that?

reply

You mean Billy Boyd? He is to the right of Elijah. Not between them.

reply

You're right. After zooming in I noticed. But damn he looks gaunt.

reply

Yeah him. He's between Frodo and the inserted Sam with a basecap

reply

I agree he wasn't lucky with the pic.

reply

Possible. Haven't thought of that. Peer pressure at work. He probably needs some PR. Certainly not looking "merry" in this one...

reply

The cast of the new GoT show is diverse too and the reviews are positive.

Maybe Rings of Power is just terrible?
