All negative reviews disappear and rating goes up overnight?

Doesn't this make Amazon look really bad?

The overall rating went from 6.2 to 6.8 overnight.

And as others have mentioned, all reviews on the main page under 6* have vanished.

It wouldn't surprise me if rating keeps going drastically up... obviously using the same dirty tactics.

Money works in mysterious ways.

reply

The rating will be artificially boosted to trick people into thinking they're the outsider for hating the show.

reply

LMAO...CRAZY PEOPLE.🙄

Try to find an user review rating below 6 on imdb, I dare you.

Holy crap... I thought you were full of shit, my apologies. I couldnt beleive my eyes there are no reveiws below 6 stars.

And the previous imdb user reviews fortunately were archived, and it paints a very different picture: https://web.archive.org/web/20220902111701/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7631058/reviews?ref_=tt_urv

You can see what imdb did.

reply

IMDb explicitly does this. They admit as much on the ratings page for, for example, 'I Am Greta':

Checking the archive.org site, it doesn't seem they deleted votes. A few days ago the average was 6.4 with the weighted average being 6.3. Right now the average is 6.3 with the weighted average being 6.8.

You don't to delete votes, you only need to weight them "properly". That and open gates for Hollywood voting farms, and you get high scores. What's weird is that they can't even reach a 7. Right now, no big budget tv show gets less than 8.

When it comes to reviews, September 2th, they had 114 reviews with the most helpful reviews scoring 5 or less:
https://web.archive.org/web/20220902111701/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7631058/reviews?ref_=tt_urv

September 3th, they only have 74 reviews. Two days later, they have the exact amount. I think they deleted negative reviews and have blocked new ones since then.

The link is helpful, thanks.

It's actually a very good thing imo. Imdb continuing its downfall into obscurity

lol

reply

amazon owns IMDB so why wouldn't they put the fix in?

reply

They did, all the negative reviews disappeared, remember. But if they fix the score to 9, everybody knows they are fixing it.

So I think they weight the votes differently, do not count the low scores, but I think even they do that, there are not many high scores.

reply

it's still a 6.8 since yesterday even after 10K more votes,
they are smart enough to keep it at a reasonable rating

reply

They deleted all of the fake accounts that were created to downvote it, no mystery here.

reply

How do you know they are fake?

Here is the archived reviews: https://web.archive.org/web/20220902111701/https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7631058/reviews?ref_=tt_urv

You can see the reviews that were deleted. Pick an user, for example: basementbrotherscollectibles https://www.imdb.com/user/ur142280227/?ref_=tt_urv

It is still there, just the review is deleted.

And by the way, it is still 74 reviews now, the same as last Friday. Apparently they locked reviews.
