Of course it will, the dumb TV executives saw the moneymaking potential of crap like GoT and since that collapsed, they're going after the big fantasy work and adding porn, gore, violence and bad language to something that never needed it before to get their latest bucks.

reply

yeah not only that but Tolkien was a devote catholic and apologist. and would abhor adding the sex and language and some of the woke agendas. i don't mind having people with different skin colors if the lore makes sense for it. are hobbits described as fair skinned? or is it not mentioned if its never mentioned then i don't care about poetic license. but Tolkien made LOTR to specifically relate to non Christians in a healthy non worldly way. adding nudity and sex scenes and heavy language is just not a good fit and will feel out of place. and not like a LOTR show. but rather a new show with an LOTR Skin for clout.

reply

There are dark skinned ''hobbits'' as described BY TOLKIEN.

reply

Yeah, but he meant dark skinned as in Black Irish swarthy Caucasian types, not African Hobbits living in The Shire. Perhaps there were some Black Hobbit tribes down in Harad, but they never made it into the trilogy.

reply

I wouldn’t be surprised.

reply

Yes.

The signs are there.

Anyone with any amount of sense, who knows what we know at this stage, will avoid it.

reply

My feeling = it's gonna' be a woeful made-for-streaming rendition of LOTRs. Like a bunch of cosplayers with some silly CGI magical effects going on... and a lot of diversity, maybe even a few LGBT elves.

reply

It's not even a question these days. The executives all learned the same utopian crap in college and now they're trying to make normal people believe what they believe (but it's definitely not a cult...).

reply

It seems their priority is with skin color quotas, sexual minorities and strong female characters.
Respecting the source material isn't high on the list.
These kinds of projects do tend to come out as shitty art.
