I liked it, but the dog was too cartoony.

This was a very ambitious film. The sort of movie I dreamed of when CGI first reared its ugly head. The fusion of CGI and real world photography into a seamless picture. I was a little bummed when the movie made itself very clear right from the get go that this was a kids film. I mean this was Beethoven on crack. And it was very stylized and not a true to history production. OK. I quickly readjusted and took it for the fairy tale it was presenting. The dog's expressions were overly animated. That's my beef. I got dogs, i've had dogs my whole life. Yeah, they can be impressively emotive. Sure as shit. But this dog was a damn cartoon and it was doing the impressive CGI a disservice. Despite never fully buying into the picture while watching it, I was left feeling very good about it after. Cool movie.

Yeah, this one was for kids; and little ones at that. No Indians, no tragic death or suffering of any of the animals. Buck was silly and had the deductive capacity of an NYPD detective. I was half expecting him to practice emergency medicine on Thornton after he was shot by the inexplicably hyper-motivated villain

I got laughing so hard when the villain showed up at the end. Totally robbed the ending of any emotional weight.

Way too many stupid cutesy moments. The dog is chasing the rabbit ... and of course he doesn't get the rabbit because he would kill it and rip it apart. Then dog running through the house breaking everything. The whole world centered around the dog, even the town. It was at the level of a 3 year old ... because today even 5 year olds are too smart for this nonsense.

Wasn't bad.

And yeah, the cartoonish god was the main problem.

I wonder what will HF do in Indiana 5 ...

This is a frustrating movie because it would have been so much better with a real dog. Like you said the dog is too cartoony. Not a bad movie, I enjoyed it, but the cgi does bring it down.
