Johnny Lawrence was a 2 time all-valley champion before LaRusso beat him.
Lawrence has 2 titles, LaRusso won 2. Yet the show tries to make Lawrence seem like a loser at Karate even though he won the same amount of titles as LaRusso.

shareLawrence was a loser because a 2 time defending champion should not lose to a kid who started practicing karate in Nov for a Dec 19th tournament date. And the rest of the competitors were losers also since they all had more experience than Daniel. Daniel should also been stripped of his 2nd title win since the rules were rigged where he got a straight path to the Finals while every other competitor had to go thru the multiple rounds
shareWasn't the fact that Daniel won it two times in a row more impressive?
Also I think they only really bring it up all the time is because Daniel uses his Karate gimmick in his car business and he's on the All Valley board.
Johnny won it 2 times in a row too. He was going for a 3peat in The Karate Kid
shareDidn't Johnny say he won his first title in 81? I guess he loses in 82 and won again in 83 against Tommy I believe?
I suppose could just be a continuity issue.
I just assumed he won it twice in a row considering his age
shareYeah it's most likely a continuity issue then. We do know from Kreese that Johnny did lose to Daryl Vidal which he tells Robby in Season 3.
However I'm certain in KK3 they mention Daniel is the first to do it two years in a row.
Jonny was never made out to be a loser at karate, he was presented to us as a loser at life. Karate was the only thing he was good at.
