Mr. Miyagi's past (spoilers)

I like the idea that Miyagi's old man perspective came out of former shameful acts. In the Karate Kid movies, Miyagi never claimed to be perfect, but did not let on too much about his past. Daniel only know the old version of Miyagi who had a lifetime to learn from his past mistakes. Miyagi was always against fighting as an old man because he knew all to well what could happen. If Miyagi had not going through killing a person in a fight, his pacifist philosophy would have been simply given to him by his father and not earned.

Series would have been better if Mr Miyagi was still alive. Yes the actor passed, however another person could have been casted. Many Asians look alike anyway

reply

He has not passed away! Like Elvis before him, P-Mort just got too sick of the spotlight and faked his death so as to fade into anonymity. He's still alive and well.

I do love the idea of Miyagi faking his death and coming back as a villain, aligned with Mr Silver

reply

He can dig his way out of that grave like The Crow and give everyone a scare!

reply

Maybe, but I think Miyagi being gone allows Daniel to slowly realize Johnny was right all along.

raysis!

I feel Miyagi being alive in the show means there wouldn't be a show. Back in Season one he'd tell Daniel to forget the stuff with Johnny, that Johnny is trying to get his life in order after being a failure for years. He also wouldn't need to train with Robby when he gets back into Karate as he'd train with Miyagi.

Also I guess you could say it's a recurring gag but Daniel always tries to do with Miyagi would do and fails big time. Then at the end he realises Miyagi wasn't some god but a human being and realises he has to do it his own way.

I think Part 3 of Season 6 is going to reveal that Mr. Miyagi did not cause the death of the person who died in his fight in the tournament all those years ago.

reply

They never addressed it in Part 3.

reply

Maybe it will be addressed in the new movie and be Daniel’s catalyst for going to Asia

I think Mr. Miyagi did cause the death of that person, and that is exactly why he didn't like competitive fighting.
