Why are critics so harsh on this movie?

I mean a 19% rotten tomatoes score? What gives? The audience seems to think it is a good movie.

reply

It's a lie, it's been locked, the audience score. Same for Rise of Skywalker, which has been at 86% for over a month. That's impossible with the increasing number of reviews, unless it's been locked.

reply

My cousin took a bunch of kids to see it. They all loved it, including my cousin and her husband.

reply

Exactly. It's a children's/ family movie. All the negative press must be from people whose favorite movies aren't in that genre.

"All the negative press must be from people whose favorite movies aren't in that genre."

-That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!

reply

MUST BE DEAF.

It's just an expression used when someone says something or makes an argument that's so mindless and cliched, that there's literally no point in saying anything else other than how stupid it is. In this case it's like saying that those who don't like Battlefield Earth don't like science fiction.
Seriously, there are lots of good and great children's/family movies out there, but Dolittle is not one of them - as shown by it's failure at the box office despite heavy promotion and a big star (RDJ).

MMMKAY

reply

Actually, the only "dumb" going on is you having a hissy because someone has a different opinion on a movie you don't like. Grow up and play nice.

reply

Your argument is invalid. Clearly you missed the point!

reply

And don't call me Clearly!

Dafuq!?

reply

what?

I took my four year nephew to see it this weekend. It was really fun. A little "zanier" than I expected and definitely aimed at kids, but I don't get the negative reviews. It was much more faithful to the source material than the Eddie Murphy movies and it was very entertaining.

reply

That score is unbelievable, heavy emphasis on the latter word. Who paid off the reviewers? I have no idea how you could see this film and rate it so low - it's incredibly charming.

reply

The critics did something similar to Alita Battle Angel which came around the same time as Captain Marvel. Tanked the score. They are probably shills trying to push an agenda.

reply

You're probably right. I wasn't a big fan of ABA, but most people who saw it were, so I find that quite odd as well.

reply

I am watching it now, it seems OK to me.
