Woke? Ghostbusters 2016 was woke, this movie?????

Well, I didn't got see this at the cinema, partly because I couldn't take my son to go see it, and he's recently seen all the Terminator movies with me, and we saw Genisys together at the cinema.

So for his sake and the supposed "woke" nature of the advertising, I was content enough to let this one go.

Woke?

What the hell was woke about this movie? I just don't see it at all. Terminator has ALWAYS celebrated a tough female character, so the Grace character didn't bother me in the slightest.

And considering it was so "woke", Grace still needed the help of "Carl" to get the job done, it wasn't all about the "wimmin".

Charlies Angels 2019, Ghostbusters 2016, they were woke movies, but this..... this was a decent entry in a series that has been stagnating since Terminator 3.

Needless to say i'll be supporting this movie with a Bluray purchase, i'm still stunned that this movie failed at the Box Office when it really wasn't a bad movie at all.

Woke? WTF!

reply

did you not see the forest for the trees? sarah connor told dani, she was only hunted by the rev-9 because of her womb (like women can't be great leaders, they can give birth to male leaders, but that's all). then in the end it is presented as a big (pseudo) surprise that dani isn't just the mother of the saviour of mankind, but the saviour herself. a preachy female empowerment message.

reply

nah, that shit went straight over this guys head. that require thinking.

can't be bothered by that.... instead it's :"oh, look, what a great explosion, look son"
what a great movie, imma buy this on bluray... YAHHHH

reply

Of course it did.
Havent you got a keyboard full of drool to empty?

reply

Still better than what your keyboard is full of

reply

Yeah, Sarah made an assumption based on her experience, and Grace said nothing to correct her.

Since her life was ruined since the age of 19, is it any wonder Sarah would be so jaded as to reduce her own importance to owning the womb that will create a saviour?

She saved the world, still lost her son, and no-one knows, pretty understandable how she might be the most affable in conversation.

There was nothing female empowerment about it, or do you think that women throughout history havent been relevant?

Boudicea? Joan of Arc?

But a female who helps inspire a new resistance in a Terminator movie is a step too far?

Who pissed in your panties?

reply

a t2 sarah connor would have made a believable female leader for the resistance, but not dani ramos... with or without cornrows :D

reply

agreed

reply

JESUS..YOU LET YOUR RACISM SLIP ON THE END OF THAT SENTENCE.

reply

in fact, a non black person with cornrows is considered racist for some people (who call it cultural appropriation).

reply

Then those people are mentally deficient because cornrows arent a black people thing, as much as some american blacks would like to think that way.

reply

Boudicea? Joan of Arc?

Pray, do tell us oh wise one, how did their stories end?

reply

"PREACHY FEMALE EMPOWERMENT"...YET EVERY FILM WHERE THE CHOSEN ONE OR HERO IS MALE IS CONSIDERED WHAT?..ADMIT IT ALREADY...YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WOMEN.

reply

it's considered a very bad comedy, if that male hero has the same leadership charisma of the dani ramos character.

to be honest, that was exactly one of the major flaws of terminator 3 as well: nick stahl's john connor wasn't a believable future leader either. albeit it was more an issure of poor writing and casting in this case.

reply

THOSE ARE BOTH VALID POINTS...NICKSTAHL,JESUS.

reply

"Needless to say i'll be supporting this movie with a Bluray purchase"

Wow, what a rebel, supporting hollywood! You go with you pussy self, show em' who da boss

🤣

reply

Yeah, somewhere you had something worthwhile to say but opted to dribble over your keyboard instead.

Good job little guy!

3 female leads. Kyle Reese and John Connor have been she-booted. Butch gender neutral looking one talks, walks and acts like a man. Diminutive minority one replaces white man as leader of human resistance.

Every human male character is an expendable moron.

Arnie has been cucked.

"I wish you weren't so white".

Illegal immigrants referred to as prisoners. Someone is punched in the face for referring to them as detainees.

Illegal immigrants freed from their cages. Villain stalks the protaganists in a Border Patrol uniform.

Did I miss anything? Enjoy your chick flick/wokefest

reply

"3 female leads. Kyle Reese and John Connor have been she-booted."

No they haven't, none of the events in Dark Fate change that they both existed in the time line, John Connor is no longer important because the war after Judgement Day he was due to fight and lead the resistance, no longer happens.

"Butch gender neutral looking one talks, walks and acts like a man."

In an apocalyptic future, where its a dog-eat-dog world, where law and order has broken down, do you really think women are keen to look as attractive as possible?

You'd be bitching if she looked like a super model, so they can't win either way can they?

"Diminutive minority one replaces white man as leader of human resistance."

Hold up, you're telling me Mexicans are a "minority"? Theres over 140million of them FFS, some "minority!"

And she hasn't replaced John Connor as the human resistance, because the war John was destined to fight in, no longer happens.

"Every human male character is an expendable moron."

Not much of a change since the first two Terminator movies then.

"Arnie has been cucked."

Thats one train of thought, but you at least understand why?

"I wish you weren't so white".

Yeah, i've heard 2 people say that, I didn't hear it, but if it was said, then it is indeed a stupid line.

"Illegal immigrants referred to as prisoners. Someone is punched in the face for referring to them as detainees."

I'm not sure what the issue is here. Is it the suggestion that Border Patrol are a bunch of dehumanising gits?

"Illegal immigrants freed from their cages."

As a diversion to try and confuse the REV9, i'm not sure why this is an issue either?

"Villain stalks the protaganists in a Border Patrol uniform."

Because that was the last time he needed to be in disguise, after that it was largely irrelevant, because his cover was blown now that Carl was able to single him out.

"Did I miss anything? Enjoy your chick flick/wokefest"

You must be a hoot at parties!

reply

Your vacuous responses indicate that you have zero grasp of the current political climate and have yet to see T1 or T2. With regards to the latter, you're definitely missing out, especially when compared with Woke Fate.

Enjoy your Blu-Ray though, you can take it to one of your hooting parties and put it on between Legally Blonde and Bridesmaids.

reply

YOU MISSED THE OPPURTUNITY TO BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING.

reply

You missed that the biggest idiot in the movie was the immigrant detainment center woman who Dani warned about being in danger and we were vert expicitly shown being killed. Oh and she was black.

reply

So a Terminator that's married being a cuck to a single mother raising someone else's kid and being an internal decorator that doesn't complain and changes diapers plus humanity's leader being a latina with an accent on top that likes to complain how people are "too white" isn't woke? What are you on dude? This is the wokest movie I've seen in my entire life. Still an enjoyable movie tough

reply

"So a Terminator that's married being a cuck to a single mother raising someone else's kid"

At no point did Carl say they were married, which would have introduced a whole load of other problems with officialdom.

Carls mission had finished, he clearly wasn't programmed by Skynet on what to do should he succeed, so now, its still "alive", doesn't need to kill anymore, and is simply blending in, and given much time to think about what he did, is in part why he saved his "son" from being killed.

He's an internal decorator to stay under radar as much as possible, he can't self terminate, he can't just go sit in a corner until his power cells fade.

"humanity's leader being a latina with an accent on top"

I'm still confused why her being a Latina or Italian or anything other than American is such a problem for people.

"that likes to complain how people are "too white" isn't woke?"

I didn't hear her make that comment, but if she did, then thats quite clearly a stupid comment in the movie to make.

" What are you on dude? This is the wokest movie I've seen in my entire life."

Really? So its more woke than Ghostbusters 2016, Doctor Who and Charlies Angels???

"Still an enjoyable movie tough"

Huzzah, agreement on something I suppose.

reply

I didn't say there aren't any plausible excuses to make Arnold the way this way, I'm just saying it's woke. They didn't NEED to make Arnold an interior decorator etc and future leader a woke Mexican woman. Ghostbusters 2016 was woke but it was a comedy so a lot of wokeness can be brushed off as jokes. Also Ghostbusters doesn't have a reputation of a "badass" franchise, so cucking it wasn't as big of trophy for them as cucking a Terminator.

I'm not bothered by someone latin being a future leader, I'm just bothered when politics is pushed in entertainment, specially to the point that it's unrealistic. (a woman is less likely to be humanity's leader during harsh times than a man). Especially like - when someone else wrote - she looks like a child. Just not realistic. They also didn't need to make her say idiotic "too White" comments.

reply

A LATINA WITH AN ACCENT....SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE "TOO WHITE"

Are you saying all latinas have an accent? Sounds like you are stereotyping minorities.

reply

You're a republican, aren't you, Mr Fragile Masculinity?

"What the hell was woke about this movie? I just don't see it at all."

You're not the fastest car on the lot, are you?

"Terminator has ALWAYS celebrated a tough female character"

Sarah Connor in T1 wasn't "tough," she was entirely believable. The only thing she did was push a button at the end after Kyle Reese had turn the Terminator into a legless cripple who crawled on the floor at 0.0001 MPH.

Sarah Connor in T2 was a cartoon character and was the start of "wokeness" in the series, i.e., as much "wokeness" as James "The Simp" Cameron thought he could get away with in 1991.

Fortunately, both Cameron and Sarah Connor were gone in T3, and Kate Brewster was far more believable than the T2 incarnation of Sarah Connor, though she did have a couple of laughable "Action Girl" and "Chick Fu" moments.

Blair Williams in TS was more or less believable, if you ignore the fact that chicks would never be combat soldiers in an apocalyptic scenario where humans are fighting for survival of the species. That's because women are far less expendable than men with regard to procreation, i.e., one man can impregnate many women, but it doesn't work the other way around.

Sarah Connor in TG was more or less believable too, aside from her acting like an entitled Millennial despite having been born in the mid 1960s. At least she didn't bust out any Chick Fu.

T:DF has the most blatant form of "wokeness," i.e., replacing an established male character with a female character (John Connor replaced by whatshername). They even added some woke seasoning to it, i.e., a white character replaced by a Mexican character. On top of that they gave her an ultra laughable, obligatory Chick Fu scene, despite her being 5-foot-fuckall and weighing all of 90 pounds soaking wet. Other examples of "wokeness" from this movie are correctly pointed out by others in this thread.

"And considering it was so "woke", Grace still needed the help of "Carl" to get the job done, it wasn't all about the "wimmin"."

What are you talking about? Carl isn't relevant. Carl is an "it," not a he or she. Machines don't have a biological sex, obviously. None of the main characters in this movie were male. Two main characters were played by male actors, but their characters were both machines.

reply

"You're not the fastest car on the lot, are you?"

I'm cut deep by that, I might need medical assistance.

"Sarah Connor in T1 wasn't "tough," she was entirely believable. The only thing she did was push a button at the end after Kyle Reese had turn the Terminator into a legless cripple who crawled on the floor at 0.0001 MPH."

Yeah, because we didn't see a noticeable change in her demeanour throughout the movie at all did we? "On your feet soldier" and "you're terminated f**ker!"

"Sarah Connor in T2 was a cartoon character and was the start of "wokeness" in the series, i.e., as much "wokeness" as James "The Simp" Cameron thought he could get away with in 1991."

Really? She wasn't a natural progression then? A woman that needs to save her son from future robots and no-one believes her, and the one person she could rely on to protect her (Reese) is dead? Her behaviour is entirely consistent with her getting tougher and changing in The Terminator.

"Fortunately, both Cameron and Sarah Connor were gone in T3, and Kate Brewster was far more believable than the T2 incarnation of Sarah Connor, though she did have a couple of laughable "Action Girl" and "Chick Fu" moments."

I must admit, I didn't mind most of Terminator 3, and Claire Danes wasn't the worst thing about it.

"Blair Williams in TS was more or less believable, if you ignore the fact that chicks would never be combat soldiers in an apocalyptic scenario where humans are fighting for survival of the species. That's because women are far less expendable than men with regard to procreation, i.e., one man can impregnate many women, but it doesn't work the other way around."

She wasn't a combat soldier, she was a pilot, and I would imagine theres a whole lot less pilots in an apocalyptic world than grunts and cannon fodder

reply

[deleted]

"Sarah Connor in TG was more or less believable too, aside from her acting like an entitled Millennial despite having been born in the mid 1960s. At least she didn't bust out any Chick Fu."

She was less believable because even though she didn't have John Connor to protect, she should have been a bit more battle hardened by Terminators trying to kill her since she was a child.

"T:DF has the most blatant form of "wokeness," i.e., replacing an established male character with a female character (John Connor replaced by whatshername)."

John wasn't replaced, he was killed, his story had ended, because the Judgement Day that Skynet brought about was averted.

But as its obvious a rogue AI will always come to fruition is why certain events will always repeat, and a different Judgement Day will occur later.

" They even added some woke seasoning to it, i.e., a white character replaced by a Mexican character."

I don't think its really that important whether she was Mexican or Italian, totally irrelevant to the story, certainly you shouldn't have a hang up about it.

"On top of that they gave her an ultra laughable, obligatory Chick Fu scene, despite her being 5-foot-fuckall and weighing all of 90 pounds soaking wet."

Yeah, that was about as woke as it got, but then none of her adversaries in that scenario were upto much were they?

"Other examples of "wokeness" from this movie are correctly pointed out by others in this thread."

They really haven't.

"What are you talking about? Carl isn't relevant. Carl is an "it," not a he or she. Machines don't have a biological sex, obviously. None of the main characters in this movie were male. Two main characters were played by male actors, but their characters were both machines."

Now you're just being pedantic. WE as the audience see them as male characters, just as we the audience saw the TX in T3 as female. Its clear their programming skews acting like the sex they look like.

reply

"I'm cut deep by that, I might need medical assistance."

Your tacit answer of "no" to the question is noted.

"Yeah, because we didn't see a noticeable change in her demeanour throughout the movie at all did we? "On your feet soldier" and "you're terminated f**ker!""

Your non sequitur is dismissed. Also, your trailer-park-level of "skill" when it comes to sarcasm is laughable.

"Really?"

Yes, really, else I wouldn't have said it, obviously.

"She wasn't a natural progression then?"

Not even remotely.

"A woman that needs to save her son from future robots and no-one believes her, and the one person she could rely on to protect her (Reese) is dead? Her behaviour is entirely consistent with her getting tougher and changing in The Terminator."

All of that can be done without turning into a poor man's John Matrix. She was acting perfectly normal at the gas station at the end of the movie.

"She wasn't a combat soldier, she was a pilot"

A fighter pilot is a combat soldier, obviously, and it's a particularly dangerous form of combat at that, considering all the HKs flying around. It's not as if she was running an air charter service for tourists.

"She was less believable because even though she didn't have John Connor to protect, she should have been a bit more battle hardened by Terminators trying to kill her since she was a child."

That's not how chicks work.

"John wasn't replaced, he was killed, his story had ended, because the Judgement Day that Skynet brought about was averted."

Is that a joke? They gave his role in the story to a chick, i.e., he was replaced. Ironically, by doing so, they established that she's worthless, because if John Connor can be killed and replaced, then so can she.

"I don't think its really that important whether she was Mexican or Italian, totally irrelevant to the story, certainly you shouldn't have a hang up about it."

It matters when it comes to "wokeness," obviously. Mexicans are the flavor of the month for the "woke" crowd, because of the woke crowd's asinine endorsement of illegal immigration, most of which comes from Mexico.

"Yeah, that was about as woke as it got"

Not even close to "about as woke as it got." Many examples of wokeness have already been posted in this thread, with the most blatant example being the replacement of John Connor with a Mexican chick.

"They really haven't."

Your mere gainsaying is dismissed.

"Now you're just being pedantic. WE as the audience see them as male characters, just as we the audience saw the TX in T3 as female."

I didn't see the TX as female. If you did that just means you're easily confused. Did you see the T1000 as female? It took two different female forms in T2 (Sarah Connor and John's foster mother). How about the Terminator in T1? It impersonated Sarah Connor's mother over the phone. People tend to use pronouns like "he" and "she" for them simply based on their appearance, but anyone with half a brain knows that machines don't have a sex.

reply

"Your tacit answer of "no" to the question is noted."

You have a problem noting sarcasm and seeing things that aren't there lol

"Your non sequitur is dismissed. Also, your trailer-park-level of "skill" when it comes to sarcasm is laughable."

Oh NOW you can see sarcasm, your last attempt wasn't so great!

"Yes, really, else I wouldn't have said it, obviously."

I don't automatically come to the conclusion you have that much control over it.

"Not even remotely."

And yet to others she is.

"All of that can be done without turning into a poor man's John Matrix. She was acting perfectly normal at the gas station at the end of the movie."

Probably because she's pregnant and wants to be all maternal and protect her baby? And also, the Terminator was killed, for the moment, she has a brief respite from it.

"A fighter pilot is a combat soldier, obviously, and it's a particularly dangerous form of combat at that, considering all the HKs flying around. It's not as if she was running an air charter service for tourists."

Not in the conventional sense they ain't, and you know it. It's also a pretty ridiculous form of combat that still exists in Terminator Salvation, no aircraft should be flying, period.

"That's not how chicks work."

Your sheltered life with women doesn't qualify for knowing how "chicks work" champ. FFS did you keep a straight face when you typed that shit out?

"Is that a joke? They gave his role in the story to a chick, i.e., he was replaced. Ironically, by doing so, they established that she's worthless, because if John Connor can be killed and replaced, then so can she."

Well done, you're getting it. Its a catch-22 situation, they fight and lose, they die. They fight and win, and become irrelevant in a different future where they are no longer the saviour.

Did it take you long?

reply

"It matters when it comes to "wokeness," obviously."

Not really.

"Mexicans are the flavor of the month for the "woke" crowd, because of the woke crowd's asinine endorsement of illegal immigration, most of which comes from Mexico."

Yeah, that insular American attitude, doesn't do anything around the rest of the world, literally, Mexican or Italian, makes ZERO difference to the rest of the world.

"Not even close to "about as woke as it got." Many examples of wokeness have already been posted in this thread, with the most blatant example being the replacement of John Connor with a Mexican chick."

At this point, I think you have bigger problems than perceived "wokeness"

"Your mere gainsaying is dismissed."

By who? You? Oh that's adorable, sweet child.

It's being adorable again! Yes we know Terminators don't have a sex, but they present as one and largely stick with it for the movie, which means, it wasn't an entire womanly woke fest as you claimed, unless Arnold came across as particularly feminine to you in the movie?

I would point out "disguises", but you're on such a roll with your T-1000 revelations, I don't want to disappoint you!

"And yet to [idiots] she is."

Fixed.

"Probably because she's pregnant and wants to be all maternal and protect her baby? And also, the Terminator was killed, for the moment, she has a brief respite from it."

But she's supposed to be "battle-hardened" at that point (lol). Also, Lena Headey's Sarah Connor character acted perfectly normal throughout the TV series, despite being on the run from law enforcement and Terminators the whole time. She was a believable character for the most part (aside from her few Hollywood-ryu Chick Kwon Do scenes), unlike Linda Hamilton's T2 Sarah Connor.

"Not in the conventional sense they ain't, and you know it."

It doesn't matter if you think it's "in the conventional sense" or not. The fact remains that chicks would never be sent into combat in a scenario where humans are fighting for the very survival of the species, for reasons I've already mentioned.

"It's also a pretty ridiculous form of combat that still exists in Terminator Salvation, no aircraft should be flying, period."

Your non sequitur is dismissed.

"Your sheltered life with women doesn't qualify for knowing how "chicks work" champ."

Your non sequitur is dismissed, Slow Doug.

"FFS did you keep a straight face when you typed that shit out?"

Comical Irony Alert (from the simp who thinks chicks are tough).

"Well done, you're getting it. Its a catch-22 situation, they fight and lose, they die. They fight and win, and become irrelevant in a different future where they are no longer the saviour. Did it take you long?"

Your concession is noted.

"Not really."

Your mere gainsaying is dismissed.

"Yeah, that insular American attitude, doesn't do anything around the rest of the world, literally, Mexican or Italian, makes ZERO difference to the rest of the world."

It's an American movie, moron, so its degree of "wokeness" is defined by the American concept of "wokeness," obviously.

"At this point, I think you have bigger problems than perceived "wokeness""

Your non sequitur is dismissed.

"By who? You?"

No, by logic, dipshit. Mere gainsaying isn't an argument, therefore it can legitimately be dismissed out of hand.

"Oh that's adorable, sweet child."

More of your trailer-park-training in action. Low-rent sarcasm and laughable stabs at condescension are the epitome of trailer-park-chick "tactics." By the way, are you a chick or just a cheap knockoff of one?

"It's being adorable again!"

See above, airhead. Also, your non sequitur is dismissed.

"Yes we know Terminators don't have a sex, but they present as one and largely stick with it for the movie, which means, it wasn't an entire womanly woke fest as you claimed, unless Arnold came across as particularly feminine to you in the movie?"

Arnold is irrelevant. His character is neither male nor female, ninny.

"I would point out "disguises", but you're on such a roll with your T-1000 revelations, I don't want to disappoint you!"

Terminators designed for infiltration are always in disguise, birdbrain, unless something beyond their control eliminates their disguise (like the truck explosion and fire at the end of T1). Once again, you said:

"And considering it was so "woke", Grace still needed the help of "Carl" to get the job done, it wasn't all about the "wimmin"."

And once again, Carl isn't relevant because Carl is a machine.

That's a non sequitur too (which includes your laughable attempt to redefine the term "edgelord"); consider it dismissed out of hand. Logic demands that I back up my arguments in response to counterarguments, and non sequiturs are not counterarguments, nor arguments of any kind, for that matter.

Saw it last night. Came to say something along these lines because I kept seeing comments on YouTube about this movie having a "feminist agenda" and nonsense like that.

There's nothing in this movie worth throwing a tantrum for. The resistance leader turned out to be a woman but have you seen Sarah Connor in T2? She could have led the resistance! Did she bother you back then?

The "anti-sjws" have become as sensitive and annoying as the so-called SJWs

reply

There is NOTHING even remotely believable about Dani becoming the future leader. The scene where she rescues Grace is comical. I have so many problems with this move, but that is one that stands out. Grace was a strong character and even most of us who really dislike DF, liked her. I could possibly buy into someone like Grace being the future leader, but not in a million years, Dani. And I don't believe for one moment that Sara taking Dani under her wing would turn her into a bad ass.

Comparing Sarah in T2 and Dani is laughable.

Dani was Sarah in T1, dummy! Did the waitress seem like a leader? No. The sequel showed that. It's about how the events in the present cause to make decisions that will affect the future.

"Did the waitress seem like a leader? No."

No, because she wasn't, nor was she said to be in the future.

OK dummy...... I specifically mentioned the scene where Dani saved Grace in the future after this version of Judgement Day takes place. Buy then she was supposedly convincing people to group together and fight with her. Like I said comical. I'm supposed to believe that she just walked up to a group of thugs and and convinced them not to hurt Grace and then band together with her? All I saw was a very little girl with poor writing and questionable acting certainly not a bad ass.

By the end of T1, we see glimpses of what Sarah will become , but I saw nothing to indicate that Dani would become the savior of humanity over someone else. Don't forget the future that Grace came from did not have Sarah Connor training Dani, so for some other reason Dani became this great leader. I don't buy into that.

So you liked it - fine. You don't see the "wokeness" - fine.

reply

I'm 100% sure you would have no problem with that scene if she were a white male character.

reply

Wow 100% sure - you must possess super powers to know me so well.

Not true, if the roles had been reversed and it was Grace saving Dani, it would have been much more believable, but what does that have to do with bad writing??????

Race has nothing to do with it and you are barking up the wrong tree insinuating that my dislike of Dani had anything to do with her race or sex. I liked Dani as a person, just not as a leader.

BTW I'm female, but of course I shouldn't even have to mention that because you know all about me.

reply

Except the "leader" version of her from the future does not look like a leader either. In fact she has somehow seem to have gotten younger instead.
