Sure the protagonist is several tones darker for Snow White, I get that but that can't explain all the hate, must be more...

Just plain old racism from 'alt right' assholes.
They hate Disney because they're 'woke'. They hate Rachel Zegler because they've all decided she is the devil (for no good reason). You also have the anti-semites who hate Gal Gadot joining in on the hate fest. Some people are upset at the dwarfs being CGI which is a valid issue.
The Little Mermaid (2023) got its share of hate too for 'race swapping' Ariel. It's just more of the same here only they've took a particular disliking to Rachel Zegler and the decision to CGI the dwarfs has added fuel to the fire.
I see, thanks for explaining, IT to think that Snow White should be performed by a snow white actress for keeping it true to the story but this is not a reason for hate
shareLet's see, Rachel Zegler is extremely annoying and condescending. She thinks the love story is cringe, called the prince a stalker, and says the new story will be all about girl-bossing. There's a leaked scene where she bosses the dwarves around and makes them clean the house while she does nothing, because god forbid a woman ever do housework. I think most Disney animations are better than Snow White, but it doesn't sound like the things they changed were what anyone asked for.
Side note, I just watched the live action Cinderella and it was a great adaptation. Never once did she have to boss anyone around or talk down to prince or insult the nasty stepmother or her bratty daughters. She rolled with the punches, charmed the pants off the prince, honored her family and never strayed from her principles. So, it's not that they can't make good live action adaptations, they just choose not to.
Oh no a girl who won't be a domestic slave. Somebody call the cops!

Because it's hard for some people to change their minds, I guess.
I hated everything what we learned about this movie before, starting from hiring Latina to play an ultra-white person, magical multi-racial creatures instead of dwarves, and Zegler's open dissing everything about the source.
But honestly, I like the trailer, like the CGI dwarves, and will give the movie a chance when it will be available at the high seas, as I won't spend a dime on Disney ever again after seeing their "stories that matter" ideology.
I gotta admit I haven't bothered with most of these Disney remakes and want to stick to the originals.
