You really think there are few people that would be all butt-hurt over any change to skin color in that film? Making Eric black would have brought the anti-miscegenation people out of the woodwork in droves. There is nothing worse, for some people, than imagining a black man in bed with a white woman.

Nah, Righties blew it when they attacked Halle Bailey the second the trailer dropped. It's not about "taste" because the movie hasn't came out yet and the right winged culture war babies haven't given valid criticism yet. Just seethe over their racist worldview collapsing before their eyes.

If it turns out to be a GENUINELY good film, that's great. If it turns out to be another Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, and people are shamed for not supporting a mediocre film because it has the 'right' agenda, that's not so great.
Just make good films FFS, and leave the 'culture wars' to the activists and idiot columnists with nothing better to write about.
