So Vanellope's game is gonna be unplugged and shut down right? She and her fellow racers are gonna be "homeless" in this universe. They 'surf' the web to fix it. But then she gets sidetracked by this other 'cooler' game and wants to stay? Leave the other racers behind who are her friends and technically her subjects? Makes her seem a shitty selfish character now. But when opportunity knocks, one must answer I guess.

shareVanellope wasn’t leaving them without a solution. They got the control and saved Sugar Rush. They got their home back and she changed careers. It is a win-win situation.
That was the overall message of the movie. Sometimes you have to let friends go and support their career changes. It is what a true friend does. That’s what Ralph had to learn.
Well, she might’ve been willing to leave them without a solution. In the end, they saved the game, but that was no thanks to her. She abandoned her mission in the middle of it to go live in that game. She was supposed to be advertising for Ralph’s viral videos so he could get the money to get her game’s steering wheel. She was willing to stop advertising which could have caused Ralph to not accumulate enough money, therefore leaving her game characters homeless. It ended up being a win-win, but not thanks to her, she was ready to abandon her people’s needs to selfishly live in her dream game
shareAs Vanelope herself said "I'm one of sixteen racers" in the Sugar Rush game, so I was willing to accept the move from one game to another in principle.
I'm just not willing to buy that she'd fit into the street racing game, as her character design was all wrong.
I could totally see a game like Grand Theft Auto having a character like that ironically, sort of a goof. Fish outa' water situation.
shareShe pulled a Turbo... quite literally doing the exact opposite of what the first game said was the wrong thing to do. She didn't accept herself for who she was and wanted to be something else just like Ralph did in part one, but this time they went the other way and showed how it not only destroyed the game she was in but basically made Ralph a long distant friend which never last. Eventually she will grow bored and want to leave that new game as well, people that always are never content with what they have go looking for something else and even if they find it the feeling of content never last... She will always wonder around looking for more exciting racing games and thus she will never keep a friend and never belong anywhere, its a surprisingly dark story for Disney to tell.
shareI just caught this movie and thought the exact same thing. Did she know her game was actually saved when she bailed? She didn't even have the guts to tell Ralph, who did everything but film himself pooping to get her money to buy the steering wheel. Then she goes off and shuns him. She left her game to die, Ralph alone without even an explanation... insanely selfish. It's not like she couldn't go back into the Internet later after everything settled down.
I would have left that chick in the dust and gone and had a few at Tappers.
It was shown in the movie that she didn't along too well with the other racers so that is why she was fine with leaving them to be homeless.

shareHer story was about coming to the realization that her life in Sugar Rush had become unsatisfying and unfulfilling. The princesses encouraged her to follow her heart and chase her dreams rather than just slowly let the days tick by in a life she didn't want. Yeah, what a selfish little shit for not just sucking it up.
She didn't abandon the citizens of Sugar Rush, they were no longer in peril, that plot thread had pretty much been resolved with Ralph making tons of money off his social media vids. You're a bigger drama queen than she is.
