What could have been a good show turns into a SJW crapfest

I like WW2 based series like Band of Brothers, and this show, about u-boats, should have been good.

But less than a third of the running time in each episode is even concerned with u-boats, and there's a silly little drama at the French port instead. even the u-boat parts get ridiculous with a mutiny and constant infighting with the crew.

Then it devolves even further into PC bullshit with the protagonist turning into a lesbian so she could fall in love with an American terrorist and her brother ends up marrying a Jew. This stupid show makes it look like all ordinary Germans weren't on the side of their own country.

Screw this!

Wow I did a double take on your description until I realized this is not the film Das Boot. It is

Youre better off watching the director's cut of the 1981 movie (4 and a half hours long) since this series is craptacular.

The "director's cut" is only little more than 2 hours long. Watch the complete miniseries instead.

Yeah, this went from mediocre in the beginning to bad to ultra crap in the end. Clicking on every WW2 cliché about german occupation along the way, which is baffling when this was supposed to be about a u-boat.

Land storyline went from pretty unrealistic to just lame after the lesbian twist, while the u-boat storyline went from ok with the tensions among the crew, to unrealistic with the mutiny lead by the rescued captain, to just annoyingly unrealistic with the crew accepting the captain having gone mad back in charge again! On top of captain Wrangler being serious mis-casted this last bit just doesn't make any sense however you look at it. Seriously, the writers wants us to believe they willingly take back someone who almost got them all killed on some kind of suicide engagement - only to retreat to his bunk when shit hits the fan - and stay there not doing anything to help while the rest of the crew is trying to save the boat, just because none of these SOLDIERS have any experience with guns?!? Just makes me mad watching such stupidity.

Sad, but most of these TV mini-series fail bore the shit out of me. It'll take a few years but I think better TV is in our future..can't get much worse.

It's a series, not a short movie. Can you really expect 8 hours of war action?

It givesthem a chance to show us the inner workings of sub command, as well as the relationship of the service men/women (which is really what drama's are about). I do agree about the SJW crap though.....

I thought the second season was better than the first one.
