Is anyone enjoying this show?
I just can't get into it. I want to like it but it hasn't seemed to engage. (maybe game of thrones is spoiling me).

shareYes, I'm enjoying it very much. I'm seeing a few differences from the book, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. (Nor is it necessarily a good thing. It depends on the need for a film medium.)
shareI am going to give it one more chance, but so far the show doesn't seem intelligent or interesting enough to hold my interest.
shareFinally was able to tune in--and found out I was not missing much. decided to paint my nails instead.
shareYeah, I am. I also enjoyed Grimm, Westworld, Game of Thrones, Penny Dreadful, The Twilight Zone, Emerald City and the ORIGINAL American Gothic. Some of these are mediocrities, others are works ranging from inspired to brilliant. What they have in common are two things that I enjoy: atmosphere, and characters I like seeing interact with each other. I have learned that if, as a diner, I can learn how to appreciate both haute cuisine AND diner chow, I can get a lot more fun out of life.
shareI'm enjoying this show so far. It's not the greatest thing ever but it works to fill the whole left by Grimm.
shareHold on, pioneerwhosis: You say you "Finally tuned in" 15 days ago, watched some part of that episode, a part that may well have excluded Acts 1 and/or 3, and decided, in your ADD. judgement that you should paint your nails instead; yet, on the only other freaking thread on this topic, you TWO MONTHS ago posted that you watched the pilot episode and were excited. You "finally had the time" 2 fucking months ago, and were excited by what you saw. Have you decided it would now be more
soigné for you to be blasé? Inquiring minds want to know.
Please---this pioneerwhosis is just a troll. Anytime someone dosen't even bother to tell why they didn't like the show, they're either full of s*** or a troll, or both. And that's all this troll is.
shareI am enjoying it enough to keep watching it. It's not the best of the genre but it is very far from being the worst. My biggest issue (and it is not that big) is that there doesn't seem to be much chemistry between Manfred and Creek.
shareI enjoy anything that has a really strong good vs. evil component, with the supernatural thrown in. I also like the hot dusty Texas setting, and the fact that just about most of the main characters kick a** Southern-style wise. Plus, the whole idea behind the existence of this town being a haven/hideout/safe place for misfits with super powers is also intriguing,too---I liked how that's set up. So,yeah, I've been liking this show so far, and been seeing it every week. Surprised that there's not a lot more comments here about it, because it's actually really good. Plus there's not too many shows featuring a gay couple as an angel and a demon who have been together for centuries,lol.
shareBTW, Midnight, Texas will be shown next week on both Monday and Tuesday at ten, for anyone who dosen't want to miss any part of it.
shareTV shows with gay angels ARE few and far between!
I liked the season (series? finale, I hope not) quite a lot, within the context of it bring an NBC fantasy series that is not a police procedural (Grimm), not a re-imaging of a classic (Dracula; I am exempting Emerald City from this category, not because it was not a classic reimagined by NBC, but because it was, to me, and almost solely because of, the performance of Ana Ularu, a series that was tantamount to inspired). I liked the chemistry between the actors. Maybe not between the designated couples; Manfred and Creek seem weak--but between the FRIENDS who populate and protect Midnight, Texas.
While I enjoyed the series, the departures from the book were a bit jarring. Translating from book to film or TV is never 100%. You have to make adjustments for the differences between the mediums. However, it was a disappointing that the only parts of the last two episodes that occurred in the book was the revelation that Fiji was a virgin and that Bobo and Fiji having sex was necessary to stop Cocoran (I'm sure I misspelled the demon's name). It sort of missed the shock value as well, since Bobo and Fiji were supposed to have sex on the crossroads; i.e. in the middle of the main intersection of town. And with the rest of the main characters there as well.
shareCostumer;
Liked the finale---even though I actually missed half of it---didn't know it was going to be on, and missed the last two episodes. It was nice to see Fiji and Bobo finally get their groove on, after the two other main couples on the show. And,nope, that shock sex scene wasn't gonna happen on network TV.---there was no need for it--it's discussed in this really good article about the finale, and the show gaining a following in general:

I really didn't expect them to show it as it happened. But it was the only reason Cocoran was rebound. It was disappointing that it was relegated to a side issue and Manfred put Cocoran down.
