Typical fun

I've already watched the other movies (including the Hobbs and Shaw spin-off) by only a couple of years apart on different streaming platforms (Netflix, Amazing Prime, Peacock, and the recent Max) just to catch up before I finally saw this today. It's just typical dumb fun then again most people can say the same thing for the previous movies (mostly the later ones).

Although it doesn't change the fact that Universal has already planned to split the supposed 10th and final installment into 3 parts, bringing the franchise up to 12 films, which sounds pretty stupid. But hey, this one was fun enough as it is, so whether or not the next two final movies would be good is up for debate.

reply

There was nothing dumb about this movie

reply

Oh, my mistake.

reply

Duly noted

reply

I said dumb because much like the other movies, some of the action stunts look ridiculous.

reply

There was a couple of ridiculous stunts in parts 7 and 8, but parts 9 and 10 were all ordinary stunts

reply

In that case, I take it back. It's just your typical fun movie.

reply

YOU WERE RIGHT...THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE IS INSANELY DUMB...DRAG RACING HIGHWAY THIEVES TURNED INTO SUPER HEROES WHO HAVE DONE EVERYTHING INCLUDING GOING TO SPACE...FOR FAMILY...SUPER DUPER DUMB...BUT FUN AS HELL...THAT'S WHY WE LOVE EM.

reply

The stunts probably jump the shark with the world's longest runway in 6. 7 is for sure when they start getting cartoony. And things are just utterly absurd by 8. So long as they're specifically building Spy Hunter style cars for missions, i'm cool with it. Like Cena's death mobile. Or the harpoon guns and what not. Whatever. But Dom just launching his car into the air and catching cables and flying around; all this sort of crap is simply dumb.

reply

what about the car flying in space scene?

reply

barely remember it. i only watched that movie once.

reply

I watched F9 this past week and let me tell you, that car flying in space scene looked very absurd

reply

IDK. That freaking foil bucket they supposedly flew to the moon looked pretty damn absurd too.

reply

Ok, that's a fair point

In 2 Fast 2 Furious Brian accelerates his car up a raised drawbridge and jumps clean over the top of another car, landing safely back on the tarmac in front of the other car.

reply

I do stunts like that all the time in my car

reply

mmm, that I would like to see!

However, there's an even better example from the first film which I can genuinely beat:-

Dom challenges Brian to a quarter mile race at the end. He even states that it's exactly a quarter mile from the traffic lights to the rail crossing. However it takes them OVER ninety seconds to jump in front of the train. That means that they must have been going slower than six minutes to cover a mile!

I can literally run faster than that. i.e. I can run one mile faster than Dom and Brian can cover the distance, whilst driving their cars at more than 100mph!

reply

right? if you're not on two wheels to the mailbox are you even driving?
