This doesn't really make much sense.

The original movie came out in 2001. This is the NINTH mainline (i.e. not counting spin-offs, cartoons, etc) sequel, coming out in 2023.

Even if one doesn't like the films, it would be pretty much impossible not to recognise they have a massive, long since past puberty, established fan base...

Sort of exactly. But I guess the entire wrestling viewership wasn't pre-pubescent initially, so the analogy doesn't really hold up against the fallacy of the OP.

I went to see Evil Dead and a few young millennials or gen z was discussing Fast X. I overheard "LOL a movie about fast cars, who the fuck fant to see that" "I just Uber everywhere" another replied shrugging.

I realized after the first one it wasn't that good. Watched two more, I think, just hoping. Watched a few minutes of some others. Gave up after that. They're just trash to me.
