Why would Captain Rayner demote himself to a measly First Officer for Burnham?
Sounds so dumb. He was like pro at running Red Directive missions and now he just follows her instead?

shareHe did not demote himself. He was demoted for his actions by a review board. They showed the board in action. Afterwards, Burnham requested he serve as her first officer.

He basically looks like an old white guy and understands military discipline and order and getting things done vs. spending an hour talking about feelings before making a decision, so he had to be humbled and proven wrong and schooled by a young woman of color. This becomes explicit in the 4th episode, just in case anyone was dull enough to miss it previously. I'm as liberal and "woke" as it gets, but even I think this is the worst kind of drivel.
shareAnd if you STILL didn't get it... Ep 6 waxes rhapsodic about how the alien race they're visiting "doesn't have a word in their language for social status or class and they have 3 genders!" AND Burnham picks the fat chick to continue the foot race instead of having her work on the tech which IS supposedly her specialty (but hey fat people can win races too!) AND the whole point of the race, to select a "sacrifice" aka someone who gets killed, is so blindingly obvious to anyone BUT Burnham and the crew that it's literally painful to watch. I'm reminded of the line in Galaxy Quest where Guy exasperatedly asks: "Don't you people ever WATCH the show?!!!" This has now descended to the level of unintended parody. I really wish the guys at South Park were viewers!
shareBecause she is stronger, braver, smarter, sexier than him ..
