One thing I'll give STD credit for

For helping me re-discover Star Trek Enterprise... A series that I, for some reason, used to be stand-offish about. I've really warmed to the cast, especially Trip, Captain Archer and the Doctor. Now into season 2 and I'm having a blast safe in the knowing I have a decent Trek show to watch and not having to endure STD.
Anybody else like ENT?

The nosedive for that show is coming, too. When the Nazis and the alien-Nazis come, you can stop watching. The show's finale was particularly disappointing.

reply

Funny, all I've heard is good things about season 3 and 4. Alien nazis? You mean, literally?

reply

Sadly, yes. Didn’t keep me from watching till the bitter end, though.

reply

Don't listen to him. Season 4 was pretty good (although I do agree that the finale was disappointing). I always thought that it was a shame that the show was cancelled just when it was getting good.

Seasons 3 and 4 of Enterprise are quite good. I revisited them recently and enjoyed them.

Gigli is high art compared to STD.

I like HALF of Enterprise, namely the last two seasons, especially love the Xindi arc with their threat to humanity and Earth. Yes, right after the climax of the Xindi arc they had space Nazis as the cliffhanger and it was annoying, but it did see the end of a certain cold war. Then Season 4 was all about individual two- and three-parters, before it came to an indignant end for the crew.

I'll tell you this much. I used to dislike Enterprise for a number of reasons, but after hearing about the dumpster fire known as Shit-scovery, I don't plan on complaining about Enterprise ever again. At least Enterprise TRIED to stay in canon. STD makes no effort whatsoever to remain consistent with the other shows, and frankly, I don't consider it part of the franchise at all.

reply

Enterprise is shit - and Discovery 2nd season is shit - BUT the first season of Discovery was actually pretty intense - and they had a decent actor playing the captain. In other words, the 1st season of discovery was different from usual ST but not bad per se - so in that sense it beats ENT just by having one decent season.
