Be honest, is Discovery really worse than Voyager, TNG, Enterprise?
I'm just curious
shareI disliked this show at first mostly due to uninteresting characters and bad storylines, especially the pilot. The story has picked up a little but I still dislike most of the primary characters, especially bland Michael, boring Saru and the annoying red-headed sidekick.
Jason Isaacs as the Captain is the show’s saving grace, if he and the bridge crew (who look interesting but never get to say much) were the focus, I’d enjoy it more.
I found the shows interpersonal conflicts a little interesting but not so much that characters start acting totally irrational when attempting to further their own goals. Like knocking out your own captain and starting a mutiny. I didn't like that the show went to non logical conclusions like OMG that poor tardigrade is suffering every time we go to warp, we need to set it free.
The show had a lot of potential but I got bored when every one started acting irational and arrived at non logical decisions by the crew that were mistakes but some how the plot made them the correct decision. Example the show wanted tension so michal opens the tardigrade cage on faith that the creature won't act hostil towards her (Thats just stupid yet the plot shows us she was right).
I actually stopped watching after the mudd space fish ground hog day episode.
Did the show pick back up? Should I consider watchinng it again?
Are you calling VOY, TNG and ENT bad?
shareIf you avoid thinking of it as a traditional star trek and even consider it non conanical it will be better then voyager. But it can't beat tng and enterprise. You have to take yourself out of the main star trek universe to put up with it because of all the character's being asses to each other and continued infighting once you've done that the story is interesting and has good pacing.
shareI think it's a lot worse. The Orville is better than this cr@p.
I'm finding STD tedious and empty. There's no warmth or likeability about any of the characters.
It could have been very good but Netflix insisted on putting in SJW story lines. The male lead is raped by a Klingon, it is just awful writing. Other than that the characters are fine and they have had a few good episodes without the cultural marxist brainwashing.
shareIt needs a lot of improvements with pacing, build up, and klingon language mostly but compared to the other star trek first Seasons, it's pretty strong actually.
shareI'd say no - the first 9 episodes are better than the whole Voyager saga combined.
To be honest, STTNG and DS9 were the top shows - the rest weren't that great, in my opinion.
Discovery had a much stronger start than any other ST show, but I suspected that it would then crash down hard - and I think those suspicions will be proven to be correct.
