I am a HUGE Captain Marvel (sorry, not calling him Shazam) fan and was displeased DC did not just call him Captain Thunder as he was called in the ashcan comic that Fawcett put out before settling on Whiz Comics and the Captain Marvel name and instead gave him the silly superhero name of Shazam (because we did not learn from Captain Marvel Jr who for decades was a hero who could not tell anyone his superhero name...now we did the same to the big guy). I loved his books and yet I find the trailer to be utter tripe. I WAS excited fro Shazam and fearful of Aquaman and now having seen the trailers my positions have switched.
That's right...I'm actually hoping for Aquaman.

I have a very limited childhood experience with Fawcett's Captain Marvel in print but did watch the Shazam! and Mighty Isis TV shows that ran on Saturday mornings. I really didn't pay that much attention to that whole Intellectual Property skirmish and absolutely bought into Marvel's Capt Marvel, nega-bands, Rick Jones and it was all good to me.
There aren't a whole lot of ways to go with Shazam that are going to be audience palatable. Which is why you WON'T see an AQUA-Lad any time soon given how DC has refashioned him for live action. I'll see Aquaman but I might not see Shazam. Shazam seems too aimed at kids, not at families and I remain to be proven wrong that DC even knows the difference.

Yes, it took two months to make it to $600 million... but only because of specific laws in China that delayed the release in the SECOND LARGEST MOVIE MARKET until two weeks ago! Other high grossing nations, like Japan, are only now joining the party, as well.
If the movie had been allowed to have had a global release date, or release dates within a week or two of each other, this movie would have soared to $600 million in half the time.
