Interesting Note While seeing the film....

I've seen all 19 MCU films in theaters....worth noting I havent had a goal to "see Every MCU film" in theaters...Its just every MCU film has sold me and I wanted to see them individually ...

I saw Ant-Man and The Wasp tonight....Very much enjoyed it...Its probably my 5th or 6th favorite MCU film....

but what was Interesting was...and This may be entirely An Unique experience for me, But out of all 19 MCU films I've seen, Ant-Man and The Wasp by far had the best audience reactions I've ever experienced....

Like every single joke hit, every action sequence had audiences enjoying it, The Heart felt Moments hit....It was really a good experience...

and I'm just curious, Is this simply just a ONE TIME deal where I was just in a theater that LOVED it ....

could you recount your audience reactions, did it seem like Audiences were really REALLY liking it?

I'm curious to see the Audience score for this film tonight...

again Its entirely possible I was just in a theater that had a great time....but It was just so a great response I'm curious to hear other reactions?

The word of mouth here is going to be gangbusters. Prepare for this movie to have legs as long as Giant Ant Man.

Just got back from a showing of the film and the audience I watched with laughed a lot and responded very well to most of it too.

reply

It's got an A- Cinemascore which puts it on the low end of MCU audience scores.

I've always wondered that...sociologically speaking. How likely people are to laugh out loud when they hear others laughing...like, what makes a good audience versus a bad audience. It'd be interesting to see some kind of study done on it.

Back in the day, I went and saw Dumb and Dumber in the theater with a friend...people were roaring, it was a lively event. Saw it again a couple weeks later and was just some chuckling. Weird how that works.

reply

Yet it got an A- CinemaScore, which is strange.

reply

Lots of laughs in my theater, but I also did notice a few pockets of the theater that did not make much noise at all.

reply

That scene with him shrunk in the school... I dunno why but that really got me. I was laughing hard. Nobody else in the theater did more than chuckle.

reply

Delighted to hear that. Prior to Ant-Man 2, the best audience reactions to MCU films I had seen were by far for Civil War, Ragnarok and Infinity War. Lots of laughs, cheers, and gasps. With Ragnarok in particular, the laughs went through the roof!

So how does Ant-Man & The Wasp measure up? Well, I’ve seen it twice so far and whilst the first audience I watched it with really seemed to enjoy it (there was laughter throughout the film), the second time the theater was significantly less quieter. Mind you, the first time was an early bird showing so watching it in a packed (huge IMAX) theater the second time around was something else. Anyway, though there wasn’t a whole lotta cheering, the audience at my AM&TW showing frankly gave the crowd reactions I witnessed at Ragnarok (and any MCU film I’ve seen in theaters) a run for their money, mainly when it came to laughs. Emotions ran higher with Infinity War, albeit the audience at my theater clearly had an absolute blast with Ant-Man and The Wasp (as did I).

Now interestingly, AM&TW’s familiar, but no less shocking mid-credits evoked many gasps at my screening. Probably more than almost any of the big moments in Infinity War did (Tony getting wounded by Thanos comes the closest). What a way to end such a lighthearted movie!

P.S. imho this should have gotten an A+. Ant-Man may remain the MCU’s smallest franchise in more ways than one, which is kinda ironic... but ugh! So damn underrated.

Yeah, it's an action comedy. Nothing more, nothing less. People I saw it with laughed and seemed pretty into some very impressive action sequences. It's a good time.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested. If you feel there is something I could be doing better, I would definitely love to hear it. Review here - https://youtu.be/hjGwk7t7bU8

Please stop plugging your youtube channel in every thread you're in. I get it you want an audience but you're over doing it. IO don't want to watch your reviews because of this.

reply

sorry, but what would you have me do? I need to get this out there to be successful. I have aspergers and ocd so maybe I am over doing it but I want this and I work hard and i'm not dropping it. I'm not forcing anyone to watch and i'm putting my 2 cents in on the thread. I see no harm in piquing people's interest with a review. Sorry you don't want to watch, but I cannot stop. I want this too badly.

reply

Well, you could have made one thread to plug it and left it at that. Or you could have done it once or twice. Every time I see you post, you post a link and ask people to watch your review. I have a channel as well. It's just a small thing I do on the side when I feel like it that I mostly just have friends and family watch it and even with the limited exposure I have, I was surprised to see some of my vids getting a lot more views than expected. It's easier than you think.

reply

maybe I will do that, but then again there have been people on here who have said they were glad I put it on other threads cause they would not have seen it otherwise and they enjoyed it and some even subscribe. I don't want to hit every thread. Just when I see something I can possibly add to I do that and the response I get from other threads just makes me feel I need to put my usual thing at the bottom. I can try to pull back on it a little but it's very hard for me to do that.
