This show is a masterclass in suspense and tension

Just a scene as simple as Darlene eating breakfast while Wyatt and Ruth talked made you nervous, cause of the music, the zoom in to Darlene's face, just made you feel uneasy like someone was about to die.

This show does that so well, it takes the simplest scenes and with music and camera work and the amazing actors it turns them into a tension filled minefield, like any second shits gonna go down.

Reminds me so much of Hitchcock's work, where he'd make you feel nervous and on the edge of your seat during a scene so simple and in a setting so normal.

Definitely an interesting scene. I’ve watched it twice now, and can’t really put my finger on why Darlene wasn’t participating in the conversation, rather pointedly. It doesn’t seem like she has a reason not to share in the excitement of a their new business plan.

In my opinion, Darlene’s best scene will always be the scene in S3 with the parenting class. For all the reasons you mentioned, you can physically feel the tension that something bad was going to happen!
