How do people figure Godzilla won this. (a few spoilers)

It was a draw. Actually, the only reason Godzilla was able to put his foot down on Kong was because Kong didn't kill him earlier. Sure Kong used an ax, but he put Godzilla down, coulda killed him, and decided to back away.

And I wonder, if these beast want to be the Alpha beast, why did they not kill one another when they had the chance.

-Kong upside-down on that boat was a cool scene.
-Godzilla really blew fire down to the middle of the earth?
-Apex has a travel system the spans the globe in minutes?
-Since when can you upload energy.
-Mecha-godzilla was no joke. Dude was a straight-up beast.
-So pouring liquor on the system will bring down Mecha-godzilla? (geez...)
-Kong eating that lizard's head was some boss shit.
-Another movie needs to be made so we can learn about that ancient monkey temple.
-It'll probably take 50yrs to re-build Hong Kong.

Not sure how I feel about that Hollow Earth, and I thought even less of the 3 Stooges. They brought nothing to the movie, and served no purpose. But that's okay. I just wanted to watch it for the CGI slugfest, which was nicely produced.

reply

You mean other than the fact Kong ended up on his back twice?

reply

And Godzilla never was on his?

reply

Godzilla was knocked out cold, laid out, unconscious after being smacked with Kong's axe.

reply

Godzilla got back up. Best case scenario, you can say Kong took 1. Lost twice. I'm a Kong guy too. And I LOVE that he got back up after clearly being exhausted after the Mechagodzilla fight, but dude lost twice.

reply

The only reason why Godzilla did not kill Kong in the first fight was because the humans interfered. Kong was going to die be being drowned.

I need to watch the axe swing again because when Kong swung the axe he still ended up on his butt. What happened when the axe got close to Godzilla's face? It looked to me that both went down Kong did not have an opportuinity to "kill him" that he turned away.

reply

He swung the axe, and the power from the hit knocked the monkey on the ground, but knocked the gecko out cold. Kong could've walked over there and finished him. I suspect he was too hurt? Or maybe he doesn't quite have a killer instinct. But why did the gecko not kill the money when HE had the chance.

reply

litttle deaf girl told him not to?

reply

Kong was drugged during the first fight. Not saying your wrong, but he was doped up. They stated it.

reply

Kong was drugged up and out of his element. Unfair fight also because Godzilla is amphibious. Take the first fight out and they went 50-50, which was exactly how I predicted to appeal to both fan bases.

reply

The first fight was so blatantly unfair it was insulting. Godzilla already has the advantage because he's amphibious and invulnerable, and they STILL felt the need to pile another thing against Kong.

reply

The effect of the drug had obviously worn off because he was clearly awake for a while before the fight. He was able to interact with Jia for a while. They basically drugged him to put him in the chains but did not continue to drug him once they had him chained.

I did not see anything in the first fight (in terms of him being slower than the second fight) that would indicate he was still under the effect of the drugs.

There's literally something on the back of his collar. The movie makes it much clearer, but you can see it here at around 13 and 15 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUzaQsy7bsE. Those are the drugs. It's a container. They didn't just inject him once and be done, it was something that was actively attached to him.

reply

I noticed those things as well but did he act in anyway like he was influenced by drugs?

No he did not, he was still fast and was able to make decisions. He was able to recognize when Godzilla was going to attack with the atomic breath and jumped to another ship. It was clear from watching Kong in that fight the effect of the drugs given to him had worn off.

So they drugged him to get him on the ship and let the drugs wear off. The question is, why did they let the drug effect wear off in the first place. We both agree that the collar on his neck most likely had drugs on it so why let the drugs wear off? Most likely it was because they had a limited supply and felt if he woke up on the ocean he would not try to escape but they would need to drug him again as they approached the coast so he would be better controlled when they brought onto Antartica

reply

"So they drugged him to get him on the ship and let the drugs wear off. "

They wore off, but his collar had those things on the back of them because.....? Come on, man. There's no point in showing us the collar had those things on it other than to imply he was being drugged. If they sedated him once then chained him up, those things wouldn't even exist (on the collar).

reply

Did he look like he was drugged during the fight at all???

The answer is clearly no, so you then have to ask why did they show those things he had on his collar?

I agree it was to drug him the difference is that you think that he was always being drugged regardless of how he behaved and I am actually looking at how he behaved and have come to the conclusion that they were not using the drugs on him all the time.

reply

Other than the giant collar with drugs attached to it that was on his neck? Or the chains he couldn't break?

Stop it.

reply

Well he did break the chains but you bring up something that supports MY argument so thank you.

Your argument was that Kong was drugged during the first fight. I explained that the effect of the drugs had obviously worn off and I presumed that they did not need the drugs all the time because he was not going to try to swim home.

You reminded me that he had the chains on so that helps my argument that he was not drugged all the time. How? They just need him to be drugged when transporting him because then need him to be controllable then. They can have him be awake for lot of the trip because of the chains. so another reason for him not to be drugged for the entire trip.

reply

He was 88% sedated according to the movie, a day before he fought Godzilla.

So I don't think the drugs completely wore off, but regardless he certainly wasn't fighting with 100% alacrity.

reply

He broke the chains after Skarsgård's character flips the kill switch. Stop it already. We see all of this in the movie.

reply

Kong was a pussy! In his defense, though, I will be the first to admit you can only do so much against a creature with an atomic fire-breath weapon.

reply

In that first fight, the deck was definitely stacked against Kong, so I don't count that shit. They went 1-1.

reply

Actually the deck was under Kong. :)

I do "count that shit" because Kong was not drugged during that first fight. He had the humans on his side. Yes, he was on the water but that is not the deck being stacked against him that is clearly a weakness of Kong. Godzilla can fight well on both land and water so that is a plus for Godzilla

I would say that it is 2-0 in Godzilla's favor as the battle " that Kong is given credit for winning is a draw. The both got their butts kicked in the axe attack. Yes, Godzilla was down longer but Kong did not make any move to take advantage, he went away and climbed up a building.

reply

That's what I don't get. Godzilla is invulnerable, breathes fire, and amphibian. He already has the advantage over Kong, but they had to drug Kong too? Like...what?

reply

Well, what's important is that Godzilla and Kong are friends now, and can both be available to go after the next movie's Big Bad.

LIKE THE POST TITLE?

To the OP & everyone else here, the scene where Godzilla had Kong pinned on the ground with this foot on him, & then we see them both roar at each other, each trying to outdo the other. Then they stop & you see Godzilla stare at Kong & then nod his head. Well I took that to mean that it was understood between them that it was finished & the fight was over & that Godzilla was the victor. So Tyler, in answer to your question THAT’S how a lot of people figured Godzilla had won the fight.

At least thats what I think that the entire scene signifies. Who knows I could be wrong but I don’t think I am.

reply

And you would be correct. But this scene you mention ONLY happens because Kong didn't kill Godzilla previously. Thus it seems like a draw.
