Like the new terminator.. you go woke .. you go broke πŸ˜‚

It flopped hard

Both Terminator and Charlie's Angels do have annoying SJW elements, but I'd say the biggest problem is not "wokeness" but that both films are soulless rehashes and pointless cash grabs of franchises that audiences stopped caring about two decades ago. Hollywood keeps trying to milk them anyway and expects us to get excited by them recycling the SAME material over and over again. All Terminator does is copy and paste from previous, better Terminator movies for example.

Exactly. The Drew Barrymore remakes were fun if nothing else. Just looking at the poster alone for this one, I can tell it is a bore.

I'm curious if this "woke" crowd even watches these movies they put all their support into. Because they almost always flop, because most people don't really want to see these movies, they want to see good movies. And that includes these people, they talk the talk, because that is easy. But when it actually comes to paying with your money and wasting an hour and a half in a movie theater, that's where they stop.

I was wondering the same thing. CA seems very low brow for a group of people who believe to be intellectual giants. Not to mention the violence.

reply

I'm betting 95% of the people that SCREAMED "HOMOPHOBIA!!!" at anyone who opposed making Sulu gay in Star Trek Beyond (even though George Takei himself opposed it and he's an outspoken LGBT rights guy married to a man) didn't bother to see the movie. They just preferred bullying and trolling other people on social media who disagreed with them, and praising the filmmakers shoehorned in "gay" character to showcase how "woke" they are.

I saw the film, and ASIDE from that useless 10 second scene made only to appease the SJW crowd, it was a pretty good movie.

reply

"..didn't bother to see the movie"

People like that only do one thing. Once they've done it, they don't want to do it again or reinforce it or want to do more.

They spent their energy screaming and throwing a hissy fit, they felt their job is done, and they can focus on something else. They never had any intention on following-through and actually putting their money where their mouth is.

Why should they go see the movie, when they already did their part by screaming in forums?

Huzzah!

ITS A FILM ABOUT 3 SEXY FEMALES WHO SOLVE A CASE AND KICK A LOT OF ASSES.....AND THE PREMISE WAS DEVELOPED 40 YEARS AGO.....WOKE DOESNT REALLY APPLY TO THIS.

reply

the trailers suggested its been given fierce 'woke' makeover - which has seemingly sunk the box office (also see GB2016, MiB4, Terminator:DF)..otherwise a 'straight' non woke CA movie might've been a success - as happened with the previous 2

reply

Don't bother arguing with Kowalski. The guy's a fucking idiot.

reply

And a druggie.

reply

More than anything is the actresses talking about how "misogynists" won't like the movie. Even before it gets to the lectures.

Brie Larsen is lucky her film had the Marvel tag and Endgame coming out soon or her woke bullshit would have gotten these numbers.

reply

007 up next.

maybe Birds of Prey

reply

Bond is skating on some seriously thin ice in dicing with potential 'woke' stuff - maybe the producers are feeling that way too as I read just the other day the intended black female '007' has been dialled back so she'll just be another 00 agent. not taking Bonds number) plus NO ONE liked the last movie either (potential shades of Terminator Genisys-DarkFate)

BoP is dicing with box office death too (it was obviously put into production around the same time as all of these 'woke' movies that have now bombed so maybe there will be some drastic reshoots going on right about now to make it less woke)

reply

Imagine thinking Bond will flop.

I never bothered watching the remake from 2000 as I never found the TV series all that great as a kid. Steve Austin and Jaime Summers were my super heroes and it didn't have so much to do with addressing social issues, it was just about fighting the bad guys.

I won't be seeing this movie either and I found the casting to be a weak practice in Demographic hunting by film marketers.

There really is an over-zealous reach in all industries to appeal to young ignorant people. When I was a teen/tween it was all about finding the right balance to appeal to our pocket books and when they did fail they stopped doing it. Today though, it seems that they just repeat the same cycle year in and year out. 10 years now it seems.
