Why was Jeff Goldblum in this?

His appearance lent nothing to the story. Was his appearance in the beginning and end supposed to be one follow up to the dinosaurs getting loose or did he actually testify twice?

Jeff Goldblum was in this so that they could use clips of him in previews, to sell more tickets. People who liked the very first film probably went to theaters, thinking he would have a bigger role. Gotcha!

Which is why I didn't pay for this movie. The o'l bait & switch tactic does not deserve any reward.
