Prince Philip

I'm now into season five. He, as depicted, comes across as the glue to the family, the one most emotionally approachable, wise & worldly, objective, of the clan. The least reactive.

He even was the one most kind to Diana through the years, which made her betrayal of the family probably the most personally stinging.

I very much wonder how 'accurate' are these various portrayals of character.

I felt the same about Philip even though he could be clumsy at times with what he said. I like the ep where he explains to Diana that the only family member who matters is the Queen. Everyone else is support staff for her. I feel that Diana never liked the idea of being support and wanted to be the star. Philip always struck me as feeling emasculated as he was a Prince married to a Queen.

The ep where he interviews the astronauts was interesting as in he was seeking a higher level of awareness and was disappointed that the astronauts didn't feel anything otherworldly or godly while in space.

I agree, he was kind to Diana and she betrayed them all. I am assuming that what we see in the show has been corroborated by insiders. They have more than enough staff they rely on and the family themselves would talk to the media.

I don’t think I saw the same show as you. Prince Philip most of time was bored and annoyed. He was in the Queen’s corner for sure. So, Diana betrayed the family?

reply

No, she was true blue to the very end.

The only one who was true blue was Elizabeth. Philip was discreet and supportive of the Queen, but they called him a ladies’ man. Charles was madly in love with Camilla. She however didn’t feel the same way and was madly in love with Andrew who had a fling with Charles’ sister, Anne. Speaking of sisters, could Princess Margaret have caused more scandal? Turns out Diana was really in love with Charles. And she’s the one that you say betrayed everybody.

Thanks for setting everyone straight. You have it all figured out.
