So what did you all think about the film and the tribute....(spoilers! .....and questions!)

Just got out of a screening. The Ghostbusters are back, baby!!

What did you all think about keeping Egon in the movie albeit in ghost form? Pretty good effects on him although I understand why they didn't allow him to talk.

Nice tribute as he was protecting the world this whole time keeping Gozer/Zuul at bay and then passing the knowledge on to the next generation by literally guiding them in the right direction.

Some thoughts:

• Can someone remind me about the coin thing that Janine gave to Egon? Looked like a deleted scene from the original but the same coin was then shown in this film.
• Saw a bunch of references/easter eggs but need to rewatch to catch them all
• We got another set of possessions and arms/paws ripping through chairs! "There is no Callie only Zuul!!"
• Winston as the oldest Ghostbuster looks damn good for 75!
• Winston is listed as Dr. Wisnton Zeddemore in the imdb credits. Did he earn a doctorate too? I just though he was a financial success but maybe I missed something.
• Speaking of that he kept the fire station afloat this whole time just like Ray's book store?
• We got a who you gonna call line! Bokeem Woodbine is a great character actor.
• Podcast was the best kid to me but they all did a good job
• Love that they showed us "new" ways to use the old tech like the goggles photo printer, gunner seat, and RC trap
• Was that J. Jonah Jameson aka J.K. Simmons as Ivo Shandor?
• Was that Olivia Wilde as the return of flat top? lol
• We needed more Sigourney but fun reference to the Bill Murray testing scene
• The red flashing light in the containment center is breached? We getting another round of NYC activity? I thought the ghosts were contained in that pit in Oklahoma?

reply

I won’t touch on all points but they’re all great topics of conversation just one, could you tell me why Egon didn’t speak? I found it a bit strange him just smiling.

reply

The actor isn’t alive.

reply

And? You telling me they don’t have his voice saying a million words on film reels, vhs, dvd, boy ray? Lol

reply

Now you're just being a Wilhuff

reply

voice cloning software exists, but the results are not 100% convincing yet. besides, ghosts don't talk...

reply

Ghost don't talk in this universe

reply

Vigo spoke.

reply

Vigo is a God, not a ghost

reply

He’s not a God he’s a dead sorcerer. Therefore a ghost. Show me where it says he’s a god.

reply

Not THE God, but obviously has some immortal properties, so he's elevated to some type of a god (lower case g). He was able to speak after being decapitated, and he was also able to resurrect his physical form, not just an ectoplasmic entity. Ghosts were not solid beings in this univers. Also, he was never referred to as a ghost either, if that's your required perimeter.

reply

He was never referred to as a god either and he obviously isn’t immortal if he’s dead now is he. He’s a ghost.

reply

I suspect you're being obtuse, but I'll assume your just easily confused for the benefit of the doubt. I never said he was referred to as a god, YOU put that qualifier out there, so I pointed out he wasn't a ghost either, per the script. Also, you are incorrect and misinformed. Gods physical embodiment can be destroyed, but they can be brought back. These are called resurrection deities, and they exist throughout history in mythology and religions. Since neither are specifically defined in the film, I'll point out the evidence of the movie supports my theory much more than yours.

reply

No no. For the record. In black and white, you said yourself, he’s a god. And you yourself said he’s immortal. Of which he is neither. Read back and you will see you typed both those statements.

reply

Yes ,i said that. I never said the movie said that. You said he was a ghost. I've given a compelling argument that supports my point of view. You've yet to provide anything that supports your opinion.

reply

You're also doing that thing where people focus on semantics in a disagreement, and have ignored the majority of my post in which I logically dismantled your counterpoint. I've found that's usually because people can't come up with a reasonable counter, so they find something small to give the illusion of being right. It's ok to just admit you are wrong bro.

reply

I’m not wrong. He’s a ghost. Not a god.

reply

the shot of all 4 ghostbusters lined up was the best thing about the film

reply

I teared up a little, and I'm not usually that person.

reply

Gave me goose bumps seeing the OG guys and seeing ghost Egon guide his granddaughter etc.

Decent new characters but your kind of fighting a losing argument with that.

Yes it was Olivia Wilde as Gozer and JK Simmons as Ivo Shandor.

reply

I didn't realize that was Olivia Wilde!

reply

ray not believing egon was the worst part of the film

reply

Has the losing battle of 2016 where Ramis is no longer around, the other guys are too old, a new movie needed younger talent and the filmmakers knew it.

reply

If it was made in like the 2000's it would've been a movie version of Extreme Ghostbusters with Egon training a younger generation.

reply

I think they will say another movie will be made.

reply

The post credit scene definitely implies that.

reply

Watching this and playing the Video Game feels like there should've been more than two Ghostbusters movies in the first place to create a massive franchise.
