Think Dan Aykroyd/Ray is going to be the only original cast member to return?
Maybe Ernie Hudson as well but Bill Murray is impossible to cast since he never wanted to do a third movie and Harold Ramis is no longer around.

Well the kids are the focal point of the fun because a new edition to the franchise needs young blood.
sharethe news i heard about this was aykroyd and weaver ready, but shouldn't this be titled 3 not to be confused in the future with female version (funny, the current title seen here reminds me of the blues brothers 2000 sequel) since i figure this is a sequel to the 1980's flicks, but i've heard news about a ghostbusters sequel like this before so that makes me not at all so sure this will actually happen this time either, i'm pretty sure this was planned years ago but murray wouldn't join in or something and i wonder if that's why they went with an all new cast and made that third ghostbusters which isn't a sequel to the first two, at least i don't think so, i haven't seen it myself, anyway, if this production does happen, and the original stars don't end up only in cameos or something then if you're like me, you'll end up loving it no matter what the result ends up to be, i'm one of those people who just love sequels with the original cast brought back, like if it was up to me, they could just stop making originals now and focus only on sequels, even though the fourth (vegas) "vacation" (1997) movie wasn't funny at all, i still tune into it whenever it airs cause it's great to see them in another vacation adventure, there was such a missed opportunity in 2014 when they got chase and d'angelo back but put them in cameos... like, if you're gonna make a sequel, the fans of the old movies will obviously want to see the original players in the main parts, since clark and ellen's children are grown up now, they should've made a proper christmas vacation sequel (there was a tv made movie sequel starring cousin eddie) with everyone over at their house.

Production is happening, filming right now. They've gone back to their original plan before Ramis died have a younger generation take over the Ghostbusting reigns, using their old equipment that has been mothballed.
Problem with using the original cast is that Ramis is no longer around, the other guys are too old same with Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, a new instalment to the franchise needs young blood.
i only found out recently that ramis had passed on, it sort of came unexpected since he wasn't even that old and don't know of what, but he's starred in and directed some of our favorite movies of course he made the iconic groundhog day and also one of my personal favorite 21st century movies bedazzled. you get the idea bill murray is really hard to get to star like he's turning into "mr fabulous" in the blues brothers right before us or like the moviemakers of the james bond franchise in the late 1960s struggling to get connery back. well the common thing is to use a new cast and put the originals in smaller parts, but as i can recall that never works, think about the new dallas getting cancelled after three seasons and haven't heard of it since, the 2014 vacation sequel, remake, or what the heck that was, i really consider that the worst movie i've ever seen and critics didn't like it either, so at least my experience is using a new cast never works, funny i don't think of aykroyd and these people as old, in the sense of chasing around ghosts i guess they are, i'll admit it'll look weird with 70 year olds chasing sci-fi ghosts unless it was a serious drama, but thinking about it i'd sure watch it, that would be something else, i figure if they're aiming for a teen audience you would get some of today's young stars to chase ghosts, but i guess they could might as well aim for a mature audience since people are childish these days and they're the ones with money to buy tickets, i never go to the theatre myself anymore because i can't stand new movies, but my first thought was i might just make an exception on this, i guess your thoughts on how the direction of this movie will end up is probably right, i won't go to the theatre and watch kids chasing ghosts, but we'll see how it all turns out.

only echo of you long gone.
