Can Kristen Stewart Act?

I thought she was dreadful in this film, badly miscast, and rather mousey. What's with those hairy eyebrows? Her line readings were flat and boring and she was totally unbelievable as a femme fatale who could ensnare two men. Just my opinion, but I thought she was the weakest part of the film.

Again for emphasis: I find it amusing that a few anons on this thread say Kristen Stewart can't act--contrasted by a plethora of the top film critics in the industry insisting that she CAN.

She is a horrible actress and she was horrible in this film. I don't know how she keeps getting major acting roles. She is not attractive enough to be getting major roles with her acting ability. I just don't get it. Is she related to the head of Disney or something?

reply

I thought she was great.... Your comment about her eyebrows simply proves you have an ax to grind about her, personally, as it has nothing to do with acting.

Who painted her as a femme fatale? There are qualities that can ensnare men which have nothing to do with being diabolical.

I thought she conveyed tons, just with facial expressions.... She seemed totally believable to me.

Agreed. And the way they kept calling her incredibly beautiful while she was looking like a drug addict was kind of funny. But then again, the movie called Steve Carell charming!

I can't figure out how Allen masked over the pervasive sound of her nervous squirrelly teeth-breathing she does in every other movie. Sounds like a damn hyperventilating chipmunk.

I thought Kristen and Jesse were cast perfectly. These two were young, nervous kids just going through the steps of life, only taking different directions. As a server In restaurants I had the opportunity to hear numberous awkward date night dinner conversations and they would sound exactly like Jesse and Kristen. Kristen sounded and acted very real to me. I am only a casual fan of hers too.

reply

Not a big fan of either Eisenberg or Stewart, but Stewart is a goddess here. And Eisenberg was judiciiously cast. Both were stellar in this wonderful film.

reply

Kristen can act if given a good role.

reply

I agree.

If you've heard of "Clouds of Sils Maria", you have your answer.

K Stew is the female equivalent of Keanu Reeves. In the right role, she's fine, but don't ever expect Julianne Moore tier acting performances from her. Not gonna happen. As for awards and favorable mentions from critics, people need to understand that influence is very much a thing in the entertainment biz when it comes to promoting films and actors.
