Amy is mad annoying

How can Jonah ever fall for her? Is she constantly pmsing? Every time she talks to Jonah she snaps at him

reply

I'm glad someone else noticed this; always scowling, so cynical. She's too pretty to always be so surly.

reply

Oh yes. I forgot that one's physical beauty limits how much they can be a realist and how they can react to accurately portrayed reality. How silly of me. Smile, ladies!!!

reply

Lol. Great reply

Yeah, I love her too.

Well, remember that she's got a troubled marriage. And, of course, she works at a dead-end, low-paying job. It's amazing that she's as perky as we see her.

She isn't even pretty

reply

I think she's cute but damn, those thighs! You can eat off of them. Very oddly shaped figure.

reply

Yeah I'm trying really hard to like her but she's forever grating my nerves. So many people seem to love her because apparently her character is the most 'real' portrayal, but I don't get it... I totally see how Jonah would be annoying at times, but her bitter, woe is me attitude is often annoying as well.

reply

Yes! Why not add some dialogue between her and Jonah that isn't bitter, even one line, that's all I ask. Shouldn't the protagonist be likable- a bit, anyway?

reply

Amy isn't the protagonist, Jonah is.

reply

I don't hate Amy, but I can see what you are saying. She always seems to be uptight. I get it though. She hates her job and the way her life has turned out. I would be a little grumpy too. It would be good to have lighten up some. I always hate it when she does her little guilt trip thing on Jonah. I kinda wish Jonah would just tell her to shut up.

reply

I like Amy. I can relate to her. She's smart and hard working and surrounded by a bunch of morons, and I mean that in the nicest way. Particularly someone like Jonah who sees life as this big joke because he's never had to really work for anything. I get it, it's not his fault he's had it easy but for people who haven't, no one has pity for him. Amy uses sarcasm as a defense and to hide how truly sensitive she can be (see Epi 1 her reaction to the stars or whatever that was)

And why does Jonah like her? Well cause she's a biatch and nice men are dumb and love biatches.

I also love all the characters actually except for maybe Cheyenne's boyfriend.

reply

She's like that because her life sucks. She made the wrong choices and hates where she ended up. She has a kid to take care of, her husband isn't any help, I doubt she still loves him and she has a love of sexual tension towards Jonah which is why she always lashes at him, she doesn't know how to show her emotions plus she's probably conflicted because she's still married. (Despite all that, I still find her annoying as well, lol)

reply

I wouldn't be surprised if later on in the series (or hell even next season) Amy ends up splitting from her husband. It sorta seems like where it's all headed IMO.

reply

You hit the nail right on the head, except I don't find her annoying. As someone previously mentioned, she grounds the show and whether or not people agree (or even realize), her character is essential to the show.

reply

She is my least favorite character. I would be very happy if her character went away.

reply

Yeah...it's called working in retail lol.

reply

She is the most identifiable real world character in the bunch, just wants to do her job and go home. She has given Jonah zero indication that she is into him. Jonah has made the relationship up in his head, believing she is a single mother, never asking her about her husband, for me Jonah is the most anoying character in the group...he thinks he is better than the job and everyone their.

But, you need him to keep the conflict going.

reply

Honestly, I have seen no romantic inclination by either character towards the other since the pilot. So I don't know where you are getting Jonah making up some relationship in his head. Jonah is out of place idealist in the show. The guy who thinks he knows everything but is actually really naive. Amy is the opposite, the jaded retail worker. I guess the point is that they will rub off on each other.

reply

Totally agree. They failed big-time casting America Ferrera in this role.

I've said it in other posts and I'll say it again:

They missed a big opportunity here. They could have cast someone who was EITHER funny or endearing (ideally both ala Jim and Pam in the Office) and they wound up with NEITHER. Why even explore a relationship possibility here when they have absolutely zero chemistry together.

She seems sooooooo angry all the time. I'd never think of asking a chick like that out.
