A liberal must of written this.

Oh poor girl had a bad childhood so I'm supposed to feel sorry for her. Bull *beep* I'm so pissed that he didn't kill her too. This guy loses his sight fighting for our country then comes home and loses his daughter and these entitled little *beep* think it's ok to rob him because the world owes them and I'm supposed to root for the girl? Give me a break. Spoiler alert: I'm supposed to hate him and root for the kids because he has the girl that killed his daughter locked up? No *beep* chance. Typical entitled Hollywood bs. Bad child = blank check to be a criminal.

To use your own dumb logic- "Oh poor old bastard, he was in the army and went blind, and then his daughter got killed!" You think that justifies kidnap, rape(yes, artificially inseminating against their will would most definitely count as rape, or at the very least severe sexual assault) and murder? Give me a break.

Just because someone has a disability and/or were in the army, doesn't make them a hero.

I have to say I hated the 3 kids. First of all, those 3 slackers were willing to rob a BLIND war veteran, even though they knew that he got the money for his killed daughter! Second, everyone is missing when the blind man came down first time, he was willing to let them go (so it seemed) until he stepped on the part of the lock from the basement door, and that idiot "Money" even said "yeah, we know what you got down there". At THAT point you see the blind man changed his goals, since he can't have witnesses. Also, the "smart" kid said that by bringing the gun, they gave him every right to shot them.

As for the blind man, sure, keeping someone against their will in a basement and getting them pregnant is a bad thing, BUT you all forget that he didn't keep her locked for torture, he didn't rape her (meaning he finds no pleasure in her pain) and HE WOULD RELEASE HER AFTER SHE WOULD GIVE BIRTH. The bottom line is the man just wanted his CHILD. Having someone that had his sight taken, his daughter taken, and just wanting not to take a life but to have one more, in comparison to three deadbeats that live of other people, yeah, I stand on the side of the blind man.

Strange that you came to this bizarre conclusion as I reached the opposite! Who is the real villain here? Certainly not these kids who are just our for money, the Blind Man is a murderous psychopath who justifies his actions with atheism. This is a classic Christian counterargument to atheism; an person without religion is devoid of morality, as morals are derived from belief in God and Christian teachings. This is of course total BS, but the take home message of the film is that only an atheist could be capable of such evil.

And Justin Bieber is not entitled?

reply

He did do a twisted thing which was kidnap the girl, but Jane Levy's character doesn't deserve to go off to some California beach with stolen money neither. And that's just one house. Who knows how many other homes they broke into.

In a way, the blind man was right. She needs to be held accountable too.

>>>Oh poor girl had a bad childhood so I'm supposed to feel sorry for her.

Well, yeah, unless you're some kind of sociopath.

>>>This guy loses his sight fighting for our country

He didn't fight for our country, he fought to invade and occupy a foreign sovereign nation on a false pretext leading to the death of over a million people.

>>>these entitled little *beep* think it's ok to rob him because the world owes them and I'm supposed to root for the girl?

No, the people think it was okay to rob him because they were poor and wanted a better life, not because they thought anyone owed them anything.

>>>I'm supposed to hate him and root for the kids because he has the girl that killed his daughter locked up? No *beep* chance.

So you like rapists who kidnaps women and locks them up in their basement in horrific conditions? Forget liberals, are you some kind of insane psychopath?

>>>Bad child = blank check to be a criminal.

Considering the fact that two of them died, your conclusion is completely false.

I didn't get the impression that the film is expecting you to root for any of the characters in particular. None of them are perfect, and some are less so than others. I found the film very similar in theme and tone to The Green Room. That was also about a bunch of far-from-pefect, less than intelligent young people finding themselves in a very dodgy, claustrophobic situation, which they were largely to blame for getting in to in due to their stupidity.

...and this is why I'm not a liberal or a conservative. Just when I think liberal stupidity can't be topped, I read a comment like the one that started this thread and I remember conservatives have been championing stupidity even longer than the libs...
