I could deal with him being a fat slob, as long as it was a 2 minute scene and when he wants to come back, he meditates and the fat disappears. That's what I was expecting. Instead we had a fat slob stumble his way through a movie, give up his hammer to Captain America, and then give up his kingdom he's meant to fight and die for so he can continue to get drunk and play playstation all day.
Right so they nerfed him. Not even half the man he was was. Tony Stark, weak and not battle ready. Hell even Captain was out of serious combat for 5 years. Thanos would not have survived a full battle ready team. And Am i wrong or did Hulk not throw a punch.....not right.
Hulk is right-handed I bet and his arm was burned pretty badly. But they nerfed him really bad b/c that damage should healed almost instantly or at least after the fight.
Come on he was nerfed far before the battle. A true hero would have died trying to help against thanos and hulk never showed his face. They made him a coward and a disgrace
Was he nerfed or are comic versions too easily created as overpowered?
Like Superman, best example. So dull.
I have an interesting "alien fallen to Earth and is superhuman" story with a balance. Its not a superhero story though, there are simply characters who want that to happen, who see a chance for fantasy to become real. Alas...
It's another stupid plot hole where they decided to use comedy in a non comedy just to make sure the character couldn't ruin their fairly weak story.
Thor cannot get fat.
He isn't remotely human and his body is like some kind of cosmically super machine. At the least, he couldn't get fat on Earth food no matter how much he consumed.
They have been alive forever, have basically indestructible bodies that aren't based on any biology anyone can think of, and they have various superpowers.
"Thor cannot get fat." When was this a stated rule in the MCU?
"He isn't remotely human." He's an Asgardian. They're pretty much human just way more powerful.
"Cosmically powered..." They made it pretty clear since his introduction his power isn't magic but extremely advanced science.
"He couldn't get fat on Earth food..." when was this stated?
Thor is a legendary religious figure and has been in the comics since the 60s. He's got the same background as any famous character and what he is is well known.
In modern cinema, white males are either pathetic comic reliefs or psychotic villains. Sometimes, they're both pathetic comic reliefs and psychotic villains (cough Hux cough).
Hawkeye finally went the psycho way, and Thor finally went the pathetic one. The alternative was ending dead old, or simply dead.
Iron Man - dead. Captain America - ancient, retired, passed the shield to a black dude. Dr. Strange - Still around, but gives off an ambiguously gay vibe. Spider Man - stuck in wide-eyed middle school boy mode. Not an independent adult male. Hulk - Metrosexual, embarrassed by his earlier Hulkouts. Hardly fights anymore.
You mean the dead one, the ancient retired one that gave his shield to a black guy, the drunk fat one that gave his kingdom to a black girl, the ambiguously gay one, the juvenile one and the metrosexual one that's embarrassed to fight, right?
Nice list of fine examples of dominant white males. Heh.
I loved Fat Drunk Gamer Thor! It was shocking, but I found the Thor's story both heartbreaking and hilarious. And yes, the big fool did pull himself together and fought with all his old fervor and power at the end, so it's all good, and if he wants to take a road trip with some new pals and finish the process of pulling himself together I'm looking forward to that.
I glad they went in that direction with Thor, even if nobody else did. Partly because Hemsworth isn't a great actor but he really shines in comedic moments, and partly because Thor showed real vulnerability for the first time. And not because some girl dumped him or something small, the only thing that could really break the heart of a God was knowing that he'd been called on to save half the universe and he'd failed.
Totally agree. Thor fell apart, but considering what happened that's not hard to believe. And by the end of the movie he was fighting alongside of his fellow super heroes.
It's totally believable that some of the surviving Avengers would fall apart, either out of grief or guilt, of just being unable to deal with failure. Or all of those.
I have to say, the way Thor fell apart was WAY more entertaining than the way Hawkeye fell apart, but then everything Thor does is more fun than anything Hawkeye has ever done. Or will do.
