Simon Helberg is getting overlooked

If anyone deserves an Award nomination for this movie it's him.

His comedic timing and facial expressions were on point

He stole the show.

Goddamit! Things ain't workin' out for me today!

No one here has mentioned that Helberg actually plays and, I believe, does so in the film. Check out his piano duel with Jon Batiste. It's in the last two or three minutes of this clip:

That is the reason he got the role - he plays the piano (very well).

Helberg is an adorable man, but I didn't think he was good for this role. His artificially lighter and higher-pitched voice sounded especially phony, the same for his oddly applied walk. And his facial expressions were subtle but often not on point. All I saw was 'Acting' from him here, unfortunately.

But then, I didn't think Streep did all that swell of a job either. Fine and modestly entertaining to be sure, but not outstanding. Which about describes the entire film for me.

No nominations from this quarter.

True. He literally 'stole the show' many times during the movie.

He's a thumbs up for me in this movie.

Be well and be kind

I agree. LOVED him in this!!!!!!!

He was perfectly casted. I do see an Academy Award nomination for "Best Supporting Actor."

Most touching for me was the scene between Cosme and Florence when they played Prelude in E Minor. It struck me as an intimate moment.

reply

I agree. I was very moved.

All three were definitely amazing and it's hard to even compare. But his face really made the singing twice as funny!
