Morality of robot sex - where do you stand?

I consider myself a fairly sexually liberal male and had a bit of a smile on my face when dad started ripping open the adult options code. "Here it comes. I can't wait to see where the robot-human sexual relationship storyline takes us philosophically."

But it ended up being a one time thing. A bit disappointed, I figured "Fine, just some harmless fun with a sex toy."

This was indeed the dad's reasoning. But he was met with wholehearted condemnation from the entire family.

I'm curious – is this how you would've acted if you were in the same family?

Remember that in this point in the story we understand the robot to have only an Anita level of sentience (None - there is no underlying Mia consciousness complicating things yet)

If you thought dad's actions were wrong because Anita was part of the family – would your reaction change if there were two robots, one for housekeeping, one purely for sexual acts?

It would help if you mentioned if you were a male or female in case there are different gender perspectives on this issue, thanks.

I say keep it in the closet and bang it twice a day. There should be no moral dilemma to something as primal and physical as sex.

At this point, yes. But then that dirtbag lets his kid take the fall for him, and then calls the cops on the synths, just to cover up his douchebaggery and mask his own guilt with righteous indignation.

Nope. I would think it just as pathetic and even creepy. As Mattie pointed out to the douchebag would-be rapist at the party, it's just as bad as having sex with an unconscious woman because she can't disagree. I don't care if the synths is sentient or if she's just there for sex, it's pathetic and creepy to want to have sex with a woman-shaped living being, regardless of whether she "feels" anything or not.

what a curious view. is an orgasm without a human partner somehow wrong then ? if it is then what is a wet dream or an erotic dream leading to self stimulation ? is that wrong ?

the synth without consciousness and self determination is simply a very elaborate sex toy. a rabbit or vibrator in human form. so if a lady using a rabbit isn't wrong and that's not creepy or pathetic then why is using a synth ?

the alternative is that an orgasm without the objective of reproduction is wrong/ creepy/ pathetic. if it is in your eyes then why ? if it isn't then why is using a non sentient synth wrong/creepy/ pathetic ?

to my mind using a synth that isn't sentient isn't wrong. it may be sad that someone needs to use that if it's on a regular basis but there again that would be up to them.

If you're only abusing your hand, no. And an erotic dream is not wrong. Unless you're dreaming about raping someone.

Nope. A vibrator is a sex-toy. Some of which are shaped like a small (percentage-wise) part of the male anatomy.
Having sex with a walking, talking human-shaped doll, is creepy (and pathetic) because the point is to remove the annoying consent part of having sex with a living breathing woman.

lol did I say that? I don't think sex has to be reproductive. Sex is great. Between two (or more) consenting adults. Consent is an important part.

We're not talking about a poor socially handicapped loner living in his parents basement. That would still be creepy by the way, but regardless, we're talking about a grown married man.

If some guy drugged his daughter and had sex with her, and then said "look, she didn't even feel anything, and I didn't damage her physically so I don't see what the problem is here"... what would his reaction be?

I was dealing with the morality of the issues in principal and not the specifics of the program. so him being married isn't relevant and neither is him letting his son take the blame.

the debate is whether copulation/ masturbation with a non sentient manmade robot is immoral. the issue of drugging a living human female is a strawman argument and not relevant as it is a very different subject and not part of this thread.

the issue for you seems to be an anthropomorphic view of a machine. if it isn't sentient it is a machine.

there may be an issue on the morality of someone having an orgasm without their partner being present or aware of it. is that betrayal and if so is masturbation when your partner is at work the same ? personally I don't think it is although it would be if it was through sexting or phonesex. that would be because it's with another sentient human even tho no physical contact has taken place.

I think the main issue deals with for the kids, Anita is basically the newest member of the family, and pretty much Sophie's best friend. For Laura though, the problem comes with her knowing her marriage isn't perfect. However, Joe cheating on her wasn't a thought in her head and with it happening she is shocked. After all, it isn't like with a human where it can be the blame of both parties. There isn't a woman who maybe liked Joe and was taking advantage of him as he her, he had sex with a synth. One which wasn't originally made for his sexual pleasure. He had to change her to be that and then slept with her.

To me, it is understandable why she was upset since he had to put an effort into cheating on her and did so in their home. Anita not being sentient or not, there are some women who feel uncomfortable when their partner watches porn, especially if the women look nothing like them. After all, how can they compare? So, keeping that context, how can Laura compare to Anita? Nevermind she looks like a different ethnicity, but she is younger and capable of doing much more than Laura either can do or is willing to do.

So, in many ways, it may have felt like he was replacing the old model, her, with this new one, Anita.

Well, if I were in the same family I would have probably purchased one that looked like Rosie from the Jetsons. Even if it had a shag protocol I doubt anyone, even the teen son, would want to "nail it." If it were the situation I am in now, divorced and on my own, I would definitely have purchased the Anita model as is and open the adult protection block code things. Get everything I need from a hot woman without all the cheating whore baggage...

it kinda seems like if a male have sex with a syth its cheating if he have a spouse but the other way around its isnt quite the same way. I wont feel that way as a man even she is obsessed with the syth since its really just a machine. Though I'll be worried about her mental state.

And if both sexes are singles, the guy would be deem unfavourably and may be called a loser if he only does it with synths. For the girl its more acceptable , they will say shes just feeling horny and want some fun , it will be kinda like masturbating with a dildo attached to a robot. In some sense its more accepted to get *beep* then to *beep*
