Morality of robot sex - where do you stand?

I consider myself a fairly sexually liberal male and had a bit of a smile on my face when dad started ripping open the adult options code. "Here it comes. I can't wait to see where the robot-human sexual relationship storyline takes us philosophically."

But it ended up being a one time thing. A bit disappointed, I figured "Fine, just some harmless fun with a sex toy."

This was indeed the dad's reasoning. But he was met with wholehearted condemnation from the entire family.

I'm curious – is this how you would've acted if you were in the same family?

Remember that in this point in the story we understand the robot to have only an Anita level of sentience (None - there is no underlying Mia consciousness complicating things yet)

If you thought dad's actions were wrong because Anita was part of the family – would your reaction change if there were two robots, one for housekeeping, one purely for sexual acts?

It would help if you mentioned if you were a male or female in case there are different gender perspectives on this issue, thanks.

Is the robot sapient?

A. Yes = then sex with it is the same as with a human. With consent, it's fine (this is assuming no familial attachments such as marriage); without consent, it's rape.

B. No = Then it's the same as using a vibrator or fleshlight, and there's no morality attached to the act. This does not mean that humans involved in or aware of the act will act rationally in regards to the act.

Anytime a human is intimate with a humiform device, someone is going to react irrationally to said act. Because people.

So if the robot is a good decision maker then it's the same as having sex with a human but if the robot is a bad decision maker it's okay. You sure assign strange criteria to your sex partners. What if the guy's wife is unwise, does that make her a sex toy? Hey, maybe it does! Maybe you are onto something!!

The real question you should be asking is whether there would be any "outrage" if a female human was using a male robot as a sex object.

I don't think anyone would have any problem with that.

Of course, I am a male, and I see female robots as liberation to human-males, just as The Pill is considered the liberation for human-females which allowed them to have sex as much as they like without any "consequences".

Female robots will restore balance of sexual bargaining-power between male and females. Currently only females hold the bargaining-chips and males are at the mercy of females for any sexual needs.

Once female robots fufilled the sexual needs of men, we can truly see who needs who in the grand scheme of things.

I can see why human-females would object to female sex robots as they can act effectively as their replacement.

Could the male robots on the other hand, fulfill the emotional needs of human-females?

Not sure if we can get a robot to be genuinely emotional for human-females anytime soon.

So yeah, interesting times for human-females.

male here. would absolutely fck the sht out of a sexy sex-bot. would be problematic if you were married tho if your wife was jealous and still wanted you to bang her.

On another note, it boggles my mind that many responses on here are defending sex with a bot because said bot is "hot" and has "boobs". Really? So in order for her to be a maid and a caregiver she has to lack development and not be tempting? Just so people can keep it in their pants? It's absurd, and it goes for women, as well.

From this female's perspective, it would not be possible to have a good fulfilling sexual experience with a synth, since the physical act is only part of a real relationship. For me the appreciation and sharing of mental and emotional closeness is just as exciting as the physical.

It was interesting that Anita showed very little response or enjoyment or even participation despite her sex protocols being activated -- the only difference was that the "inappropriate touching" warning was deactivated.

Except for the curiosity factor, sex with a synth must be pitiful and shameful and comical, like using a blow-up doll.

Probably just like the guy's wife before she stopped putting out altogether.

I'd tap that.

The older one looking after William Hurt, not the young one.

What did you expect from someone who'd bonk a robot?

reply

As a man, if I could afford a robot housekeeper that also gave me sex I wouldn't hesitate, unless of course there was the possibility they'd come at me with a carving knife or something.
