The arm scene... (spoilers)

That one was quite disturbing to me. I have seen quite some over-the-top gore horror movies but this one really made me say "Oh *beep*" out loud. I think a lot of it had to do with his screams and the fact we don't see what happens when it happens. What do you think?

reply

Yup, the screams are what made it more shocking. You could feel his shock and pain.

reply

Agreed. My wife and I sat down to watch this without knowing too much about it, and we were both wide eyed when he pulled his arm back.

reply

That was brutal. The stabbing scenes were disturbing as well. and the releasing the dogs on the girl.

and the shot gun blast to the face scared the *beep* out of me in the movie theatre.

reply

Unless I missed something, why'd they put the duct tape directly over the wounds. I know they wanted to stop the bleeding, but imagine trying to take duct tape off those wounds he had!!! Shouldn't they put SOMETHING between the tape and his wounds?? 😱😱

reply

I don't think he was thinking about what it would be like to come off. I don't think he cared really. Just wanted to patch his buddy up

reply

Only watched this 1st time last night. Exactly what I was thinking as well. Major OUCH.

Removing it won't be an issue if you're dead, right? Also, removing it won't be an issue if you go to a hospital. Because they can knock you out then rip away. If you're unconscious what does it matter?

reply

Duct tape is used to close deep wounds when entire help isn't available right away.
Hospitals use it too.

reply

Yeah, just thinking about taking off the duct tape on his wounds are as cringe-worthy as how the skinheads inflicted the pain on poor Pat's arm.

reply

What's so brilliant about this movie is how real and horrible the violence feels. There's this slow build-up and a real sense of danger when the *beep* hits the fan. Really captures what (I imagine) real life horror would feel like.

reply

Definitely an Oh Sh!t moment! And the effects were pretty gnarly.

I don't think it's that odd. The act of cutting someone is so much more savage. You have to make contact up close, feel the pressure of the cut, have the blood pour out on you.

In comparison, a gunshot from range seems pretty pg.

So it'd make sense why one is so much more disturbing to watch. Plus TV shows never show you the exit wound. That's the grossest part imo.
