Kurt Russell as Ego... Y/N?

Finally saw it, liked it but think it has flaws... and I wonder if the casting of Russell was one of them.

Yes, he does look a bit like Pratt and was warmly paternal in their early scenes together, but when he got into Godlike power mode he wasn't as awesome as some actors can be. So, do you think he was great, or could the film have been better with a different actor in the role?

reply

yes. i really liked him in the role. he seemed so loving till he wasn't.

I think the later part of the movie didn't work as much because it just kinda comes out quickly like "hey, i'm the villain, i'm gonna destroy the world now". I don't think there are many actors who could do much with so limited amount of time.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/4yxQsi5ERi4

I thought Kurt Russell's Ego was the best thing in the movie, followed by Michael Rooker's Yondu. I particularly loved the scene where he's teaching Star-Lord how to use the energy of the planet and it turns into a game of catch between father and son.

Yes, I thought he was great.

Ego is an arrogant asshole. Kurt Russell is an expert in that character type. When he got the god power, he turned into CGI.

Kurt Russell is always awesome and always will be. He could play a piece of toast and he'd still be awesome as that toast.

I read that complaint in other forums. I don't think the problem is with his acting. I think it's just that people were buying the loving father act so much that they were disappointed when he revealed his true self.

To me, he was very good and the character was interesting as well.

Now David Hasselhoff... talk about "not awesome". He's so bad in his 1.5 seconds on screen, he almost single-handedly ruined the last act.

I didn't love it. Don't like to see Kurt as a villain.
