Am I the only one who didn't like it?

Seems like everyone is loving it except me. Just got back from it and I really didn't expect much based on the trailer and it pretty much matched my expectations.

*Spoilers*
So, it's a family comedy, with some dark moments. I feel like Krampus deserves better than that. Here's this awesomely evil legendary devil santa which could be so raw and gritty and they make a joke out of it. The characters were forgettable, unlikable, boring. Most of the monsters wear masks, which to me is a cop-out for showing great make-up. There's a million talented makeup artists in Hollywood and I don't think they used any of them. CG gingerbread men? C'mon, so dumb and silly.

It felt to me like this whole movie was made by a teenager. Like hey let's make a movie about that Krampus legend it'll be hilarious and fun for the kids. There were artists but no artistry. Just some costumes they bought at the store.

I don't think you necessarily need a big plot to make a good movie but it definitely seemed like it was hurting here and dragged on. If you lose faith in Christmas Krampus comes for you. The End.

There's one scene I enjoyed where we first see Krampus jumping from house to house. That had a nice visual flair and a storybook feeling, but that's the best I can say about the entire movie.

Would like to hear your views, what you liked or didn't like, if you agree or don't agree. Please be respectful, I know this is the internet and you can say whatever the hell you want but I'm looking for genuine opinions rather than negative backlash.

I really didn't like it for a few reasons. I felt it tried to shove its moral message down our throats. Any time a movie thinks it has a message, it usually ends up being preachy and condescending.

The story seemed to fall flat. It didn't have enough comedy or enough horror to be much of anything. The characters weren't that likeable. I didn't really care who got taken.

The only thing I liked were the demons and evil toys. The ending scene of the snow globes was good. But that was really it.

The movie had potential, it just went flat. There was nothing there.

Preachy? Condescending? It's a Christmas movie, ther ewas no preachy message.

You've really got bad taste mate.

reply

It's a movie about a creature which punishes the naughty....if they removed that aspect so you don't consider it preachy then it wouldn't be a movie about Krampus at all.

The legend of Krampus gave the movie the potential to be one of the most terrifying horror movies of all time, which it unfortunately falls far short of said potential. While I didn't hate it, I feel it could've been a lot better if they really upped the gore and terror factors.

I have found this movie to be fairly boring. It feels like Hollywood these days films using some kinds of blueprints and leaves heart elsewhere.

What do you mean by "troll' ??

You are not alone.

I get what they were trying to do with the movie but it just did not work for me. And this is coming from someone who is a Trick R Treat fanatic.

Well hardly, it was a good idea and the execution isn't awful, but the foul language (Pg-13 WTF?) kinda ruined it for me and some scenes were downright silly. Also, the acting, with the exception of Toni Collette, was god-awful. Again some cool ideas and good moments, but overall rather distasteful and disappointing.

I didn't have issues with the acting at all, but I agree with the language bit. I kept talking and talking about this movie prior to Christmas and my kids were all wondering what it was and watching the making of stuff on You Tube with me... and my kids were really wanting to watch it... and then I saw it... and LOVED it, but I thought... boy, I dunno if 'should' let my kids see this... it was a classic Christmas movie in my eyes, but the language seemed a bit 'harsh' at times. If they had left the F word out... I'd probably wouldn't have ANY issues showing it to my kids when I picked up the Blu Ray... I'll admit I DID end up letting my kids watch it though... my wife (who stays AWAY from all horror movies) was in shock the last half... and told me, "If he wakes up in the middle of the night, you're dealing with him!" Of course she was talking about my 7 year old. Because it kept getting darker, and darker, and darker... I kept saying... "Stay with it! You HAVE to see it through to the end!" And they did. My son was like ALL the naysayers thinking they were all captured IN the globe... and I had to explain to him WHY I thought other wise and DID convince him they weren't.

Oh... and he slept through the night... no problems.

This movie was not meant for microretards but rather for someone with an intelligent jellyproof open mind.
