Am I the only one who didn't like it?

Seems like everyone is loving it except me. Just got back from it and I really didn't expect much based on the trailer and it pretty much matched my expectations.

*Spoilers*
So, it's a family comedy, with some dark moments. I feel like Krampus deserves better than that. Here's this awesomely evil legendary devil santa which could be so raw and gritty and they make a joke out of it. The characters were forgettable, unlikable, boring. Most of the monsters wear masks, which to me is a cop-out for showing great make-up. There's a million talented makeup artists in Hollywood and I don't think they used any of them. CG gingerbread men? C'mon, so dumb and silly.

It felt to me like this whole movie was made by a teenager. Like hey let's make a movie about that Krampus legend it'll be hilarious and fun for the kids. There were artists but no artistry. Just some costumes they bought at the store.

I don't think you necessarily need a big plot to make a good movie but it definitely seemed like it was hurting here and dragged on. If you lose faith in Christmas Krampus comes for you. The End.

There's one scene I enjoyed where we first see Krampus jumping from house to house. That had a nice visual flair and a storybook feeling, but that's the best I can say about the entire movie.

Would like to hear your views, what you liked or didn't like, if you agree or don't agree. Please be respectful, I know this is the internet and you can say whatever the hell you want but I'm looking for genuine opinions rather than negative backlash.

No you are not the only one who did not like it. In fact I saw this boring movie that had a lot of potential with a friend yesterday and we both gave it an "F". The movie is not funny and not scary, yet it makes a sad attempt at both.

If someone saw this movie and liked it: good for you! I hope that some people who saw it did not feel like they just wasted their money like we did.

reply

No, you are right, the movie sucked of garbage; pity Toni Collete and Allison Tolman, who deserve far better than this.

As a big fan of Trick R Treat, I admit I may have overhyped myself and ended up very disappointed here. The only part I enjoyed were the demonic toys, even the gingerbread men. Krampus's look was interesting, and loved seeing him jump around on the rooftops.

My issues with the movie:
-Masked elves. Would have been a great opportunity to showcase something as demented as the toys, but they cheaped out.
-Three of the main cast bite it in about 30 seconds by the snow 'tremor'. Felt like a "ok guys, we need to wrap it up quick" moment.
-Again the elves...they burst into the house like nothing. Why dick around with the whole fireplace legend if they can just bust into the house that easily?
-As someone else said, it was not consistently scary or funny. Seemed to have a lot of just nothing going on. I guess a better way to say it is that it dragged a lot.
-Didn't like that the whole neighborhood was effected/preyed on by him. Would have made more sense (to me) if his arrival was centered on just the family that accidentally summoned him.

Those elves took my life! Well two hours of it, I'll never get those back. My rating 4.

-In my mind, Christopher Reeve will always be Superman.-

No, you are NOT the only one -- as a huge fan of both the Krampus myth AND horror, I was GREATLY disappointed. This film is terrible! I have no clue how it managed to score a 7 -- really??! It looked so cheap, the acting was horrible, an hour into the film and still NOTHING really happens (dragged on way too much in general). I was bored and disappointed.

Thank you for the comment. I feel exactly the same way. I'm honestly baffled by all the positive reviews. People are calling it the best holiday horror ever, an instant classic, etc. I thought it was a mess, a bore, and very amateur; glad I'm not the only one.

It was a terrible movie, I'm a huge horror and art fan, but I feel they were trying to do Tim Burton style movie, except without the art, it's a 14a rating yet, it felt like a Disney movie, no gore, no language really, and pretentious humor. It was just a mess, either keep it PG as Disney, or Go all the way adult 18a horror.. I was dragged by my gf, so as a true horror lover, I was let down of course. It might be good for 8yr olds as a warm up to horror, and not the typical Disney stuff.

Utterly asinine review.

And yet morons like you throw insults around online, and cannot even offer any explanation, I won't even check your movie reviews, it will uncover what a louse you are.

Your inane response further proves what a stumbling fool you are. Now begone, or I shall send the elves after you.

reply

Hahahaha, you're trying so hard to look smart "inane" "asinine" yet you're too dense to provide any opinion about a movie.
You're a 30yr old virgin aren't you? Another moronic response from you, insulting people on the internet. What an utter keyboard warrior you are, good luck with your sad life kid.

from the trailors i thought it would be scary,,,WRONG, about as scary as gremlins.

the entire family was horrible so i didnt care if they all died. & what was with all the wasks?? i thought krampus would look ALOT scaryer or evil, but instead he wore a stupid mask,,,like alll the elves!!!!

3/10

just sorry i payed to see this.

There's seven billion people in the world. It is highly unlikely that you are the only one that doesn't like this movie.

While I do feel the film could have been significantly better, I liked it, especially on second viewing. I'd never heard of Krampus before the marketing for this film, so I didn't have expectations for what he needed to be. The way that Adam Scott described him on "Conan", as someone who takes bad kids to the woods and beats them with sticks, is more devilish and fun than the whole-family descent into purgatory that the film has, which got a tad heavy handed. Still, the cast is great and it's a nice new Christmas horror film.

reply

Nope. No you are not. You are not the first to do, say, think anything ever. Shut up. In fact there is a retard like you on every message board asking the same *beep* AM I THE ONLY ONE...
