How did people not like this movie?

The criticism of this movie mostly comes off as people not liking the movie because due to one major reason the casting / character design. Although I can understand some peoples disliking Rob Zombie for putting his wife in his movies the other actors did a pretty decent job for the concept of the movie which was just a horror movie not a drama or anything that calls for emotion outside of being scared.

In a time where most horror movies are jump scares torture porn it's nice to see that there's a director that's willing to go back to 70's / 80's horror ideas and bring back a slasher type movie. In my opinion the characters were interesting enough for a first installment of a franchise type movie. The Nazi midget. The weird European tall guy and his sex friend were interesting character types. Sure the brothers with the CHainsaws were kind of lame but the last "Head" was a very interesting character.

I really enjoyed this film. It caught the raw, grimy, and sleazy vibe of down'n'sdirty 70's drive-in horror exploitation fare quite well. Doom-Head was definitely my favorite of the psychos.

Because, they have a degree of taste. How was this movie horror? How is it scary to see hired killers track people through a maze?

Telling people they don't understand this film or film in general is a poor way to get your point across. Not everybody is going appreciate everything you do. It's a pretty easy premise to figure out and i'm pretty sure most people on here know what Rob Zombie's about. That said, I'm a fan of Zombie but I was a little disappointed he was retreading familiar territory. This definitely a Rob Zombie movie but I would like him to go a little south of this Devil's Rejects style like he did with Lords of Salem. That was an impressive reach for something different, even if it wasn't completely successful. It left an impression on me. I wasn't aware of the Marvel connection but the first thing that came to my mind was The Running Man and a little know indie flick called SLASHERS, which this really resembles.

What I disliked:

▪The use of those same actors.
▪Putting Sheri as a main character when she cannot act.
▪The dialogue seemed to have been written by a wayward teen.
▪The camera work was abysmal. Shaking the whole time, not simply as an excuse for bad effects.
▪The special effects were either hidden by props, a 'clever' camera angle or a shaking camera.
▪Charly's character being near-catatonic and all-of-a-sudden she's 'badass' and out to hunt. K...
▪The antagonists names (refer back to point #3).
▪The over-acting of Richard Brake, although most likely directed this way.

The general stale style and unoriginal premise could have been saved, had the above been better, but here we are.
