I didn't necessarily dislike the movie. I was just extremely disappointed for a lot of reasons. I was really excited when I heard what it was going to be about. A group of people are kidnapped the day before Halloween and are hunted by a bunch of crazy clowns. That sounds like the perfect movie for Rob Zombie to make. I am a huge fan of his first two movies and I was really excited to see him make another movie like that. But it turned out nothing like I was imagining it.
First of all I was expecting all the victims and all the clowns to be roaming around free at the same time. It was ridiculous that they sent the clowns in one or two at a time just to get killed off almost immediately. They should've had more than five people for the clowns to kill. That way you don't have to kill the main characters or the clowns as fast.
I was expecting Father murder and those two women to have more of an impact or a purpose. I feel like they were wasted. They didn't even need that much more screen time. I was just expecting to see a few scenes of them scattered throughout the movie. Like after every death it cuts back to them for a minute changing their bets and stuff. To make it feel like they were really the ones playing the game.
I was also expecting it to have more of a Halloween look and feel to it. Rob Zombie seemed to emphasize the fact that it took place on Halloween and I was really looking forward to that. Aside from him telling you the date the movie takes place, You never would know it's Halloween. It reminds me of one of those *beep* generic looking Saw movies. I imagined it to take place in and abandoned amusement park or something like that.
Also the ending was weak. I was hoping it ended the way it did with the clowns running out of time and the surviving girl getting to just walk away. I was just imagining it to be way better. I thought Sheri Moon Zombie would somehow escape and is almost out of Murder World. Then Suddenly one of the clowns walks out in front of her, so she turns around to run back and two more clowns come out. Then she is trapped, the clowns start closing in on her and just as they are about to kill her they run out of time, start laughing, drop their weapons and walk away like it was all just a game to them.
Rob Zombie had the opportunity to make a really great 70's style Halloween horror movie and I felt like it was just wasted. And he could've easily fixed it with the minor changed I suggested.
