Early box office projections have it opening between 41 to 47 million

It'll be interesting to see if the redesign continues to improve it's box office prospects. It's still tracking below the 54 million Detective Pikachu made last year.

For nostalgic purposes, I'm hoping the film does well and turns out to be decent.

I don't ever see movies like this, but i'm thinking about seeing this one. The video game nostalgia is strong and I miss wacky Jim Carey.

Exactly, those two are the only reasons I'm checking it out and want it to do good. The redesign looks much better too.

I saw a commercial for this when dad and I went to see "Frozen II." I was surprised to see Jim Carey because I thought he'd retired from acting, but apparently not. I did think he looked very different from the Dr. Robotnik they had in the original Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons, but perhaps that's a blessing. It might also be a disguise, because when I first saw him, I thought he was some kind of govt. agent come to snoop on Sonic's friend and make trouble for him.
