How Would You Fix Star Wars If You Owned It?

By some wonderful miracle, you have the money to buy Lucasfilm from Disney. How would you regain the trust of fans and revitalize the franchise?

My ideas:
*I would immediately fire Kennedy and her underlings.
*Cancel all movie/TV productions.
*Lucasarts would have two heads, one creative (Filoni) and one business(?)
*Reestablish the Lucas' EU
*Release the theatrical original trilogy on blueray, 3d, 4d and DVD
*Redo the sequel trilogy featuring Luke running the Jedi Order w/Mara and his adult son, Ben & the Solo children. Han(Ford) and hologram Leia(CGI) as cameos (another poster's great idea). New Republic is government w/Thrawn and Sith as new threat.
*Standalones could cover the Jedi/Sith wars, establish the first Jedi, first Sith and Mandolorian Wars eras.
*Allow Lucas to be creative consultant to help move movies forward w/new ideas & visuals w/ Zahn & Filoni.

The main thing I would do is release the original non special edition OT on blu ray

i wish lucasarts was back and we would get another monkey island

I wish Ron Gilbert was back and we find out the Secret out of Monkey Island!

I would try to break the mold, because every SW movie ends up looking the same. For example, in every Star Wars movie there's this droid sidekick:
-A prissy C-3PO of the SW saga
-A sarcastic and sullen K2SO of Rogue One
-A sassy female L3 in Solo
And it ends up looking flimsy all the time. It's as thought there's a slot in each one of these movies for, essentially, a somewhat modified version of 3PO to be filled. But why don't they let it go? Why not have an important droid character as, for example, a bad guy, or a henchman? They stick to the same formula over and over again, essentially making a potentially huge SW universe looking so small.

reply

Because that formula is SUCCESSFUL and POPULAR.

You've heard of the law of diminishing returns, haven't you?

reply

OK, WAS.

BUY Lucasfilm from Disney???

Believe me, Disney are assimilating all manner of entertainment companies, Lucasfilm is like a JEWEL to them. They'll NEVER relinquish it.

Agree with every idea!

Heres another I would add:

*More aliens, less humans.

I'm tired of seeing boring humans take the main supporting roles all the time, I'd like to see more of the interesting and legendary aliens from the OT and PT, such as Rodian, Twi’lek and Chagrian in leading roles alongside the offspring of any Skywalker or Solo, Skywalkers would always remain the main focus in the Skywalker saga however, unlike the mess we have now.

- Release the theatrical OT on discs and iTunes. This is the only thing that really needs to happen, but since we're playing what if, let's have some fun...

- Insert a movie somewhere in the series that centres around Luke Skywalker... Perhaps between the last movie where he appeared and The Last Jedi in terms of timeline
- The movie willl start with Luke as we knew him at the end of the OT... then gradually show him facing different challenges that he needs to overcome... Physical challenges, mental challenges, jedi challenges and emotional challenges...
- Then show how he changes gradually due to these experiences, for example show his longing for Solo, how he misses him and regrets not consumating their relationship and going beyond friendship... Show his experimental phase where he tries guys for the first time, make it R-rated with implied 'light saber fights' and all... Show him go through a dark predatory phase where he instructs 20 year old would be jedi guys how to hold their 'lightsabers' 😉 ... have fun with it, but show the darkness in that none of this sex can fill the Hanz size void in his heart, etc...
-then go really dark, show what drives him to seclusion, the darkness he felt about Kylo or whatever his name is (the adam driver character), but add the complexity of the unrequited love between Skywalker and Hans Solo as the driver for his paranoia... Think the obsession of a movie like Virtigo, with Luke deliriously 'force-spying' on Solo, etc...
- Also, add a final scene to the movie where Luke attempts suicide but fails as he realises the meaningless ness of jedi life without Solo...

That movie will restore faith in StarWars, fans will be so horrified they will re-evaluate the Disney starwars movies as being "not that bad" in a similar way as they have re-evaluated the prequels and I will have singlehandedly rejuvinated true StarWars fans love for the series since the Disney movies would be redeemed as the sequels have been...

You're welcome 😎

I’d just end it. Stop making these movies. It’s over

F*ck Star wars. I'm gonna fire everybody, sell the company and spend all the money on booze and hookers.
