Sad truth, Solo > R1 > ep7 >> ep8

but it had to be done. we had to make a sacrifice so the fat cats(mice) over at Disney get the message.

Kennedy will be gone after episode 9

after the has raped the corpse beyond recognition. whats the point?

This is NOT a "good movie". It is DULL, GREY, and generally BLAND. It is also incomprehensible with the Kessel Run, and annoying with that fucking droid.

Where does it say it's a "majority"? If the film is as well-liked as you say, it should be doing better in the box office, yes?

reply

[deleted]

You say "killing the franchise" as if it's a bad thing. Most of us would be just fine with franchise being killed off. Disney ruined it.

They need to sell this dung heap back to Lucas, de-canonize it, and mothball it.

reply

[deleted]

To be honest, I really don't care what it sounds like, nor do I care about the handful of people who want this crap to continue. I'd rather see the Disney taint on this franchise de-canonized and see Star Wars restored to relic status and moth-balled in George Lucas' closet.

I actually couldn't care less if this upsets anyone. That's how I feel.

No. I am under no obligation to support movies i don't like or the production company that has been openly hostile toward me as a fan of the SW franchise.

If KK accomplishes her goal and pulls in enough new fans to keep her vision of SW alive, then it'll continue on in the direction she guides it. That's fine, but it'll be without my financial support. Or, if KK stays, and the franchise peters out, I don't care--it's the same either way to me. I'm not seeing her films.

I also didn't go see movies starring Dane Cook. Not because I wanted to deprive others of his talents, but because I didn't care for him. They could still be casting him in starring roles and I wouldn't care. The fact that they aren't is fine with me too. Same result for me: I'm not watching his movies.

If wanting my all-time favorite film franchise of all time to remain respected, have its characters and lore respected and not wanting to see it devolve into an Uber-PC platform makes me a "spoiled child" then I'll gladly wear that as a badge of honor.

You have one made up? Make me one and I'll wear it with pride.

Solo=R1 > 7=8 imo

Rogue One was the best Star Wars film since Ep. III, which are the only two even remotely worthy of the original trilogy IV-VI. I'm surprised Rogue One gets as much flak as it does. I thought it was a nice stylistic return to the grungy-yet-futuristic look of the great sci-fi films of the late 70s and early 80s, with great special effects and wide angle, expansive shots to boot.

Kathleen Kennedy is a scumbag misandrist. I hope young men start waking up to the feminist propaganda and understand that it's no longer a movement for equality and fair treatment. It's about securing advantages for women at every level: the work place, schools, entertainment, media, government. You name it. Just as an example, the percentage of female college graduates, relative to males, is nearing 60%. I don't include the gender confused in that statistic. Women seem to be perfectly happy with this outcome, probably thinking it's simply evidence of their superior brains and work ethic. Young men, in particular, are being shortchanged. I'll listen to some of the feminist jive from minorities, but when white women - especially in America - piss and moan about their oppression, I just roll my eyes. There is no more privileged group in western civilization than white women.

reply

At least you guys admit that you hate these movies because they're no longer purely masculine propaganda, and that you're intimidated to the point of pissing your pants by a little "girl power."

Damned incels.

reply

Lol. Not intimidated at all. Just sick of the shrill hypocrisy of feminists like Kathleen Kennedy who don't get called out on their bigotry, and in fact are celebrated for it.

reply

[deleted]

BS. Kennedy is on record of boasting of her prejudicial hiring of women for the top level Star Wars creative team. That's anti-male gender discrimination, and that's just for starters. Let me wear the dunce cap atop the progressive mindset for a moment. Why is there no top level black male writer on the Disney Star Wars team to get a "proper perspective" on the Finn character? Sounds to me like black folks are being shortchanged by the white female matriarchy.

reply

[deleted]

No it isnt, its promoting equality. Its saying we hire women, and pointing at it. Unless she says, Im not hiring men because they are men, you have no argument.

No, she's indicating a practice of preferential hiring for women. That's gender discrimination if the intent isn't to do a job search that hires the most qualified people. She's arguing that gender plays a role in making someone more "qualified" for a job at Disney (which it could be in uncommon situations).

Note the following about Kiri Hart, the head of the Lucasfilm story group (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/22/movies/star-wars-last-jedi-women-run-universe.html):

"Kathleen Kennedy founded the group in 2012 when she succeeded George Lucas as president of Lucasfilm, putting Kiri Hart, a former film and TV writer, in charge of the unit. Ms. Hart’s first move was to make the story group entirely female, starting with Rayne Roberts and Carrie Beck."

reply

[deleted]

There is no indication in that article that the 23 people were hired specifically because they are men, or Caucasian for that matter. Yet Kiri Hart explicitly stated that she came into a new position of power with the intent of making her creative team "all women."

You don't seem to grasp the difference. Maybe you do and are just pretending to be dense to serve your cause, or maybe you are that dumb. I doubt we'll get any insight from you on that.

It's about securing advantages for women at every level

Securing advantages for THIS generation of women, and perhaps the next one. The ones that will follow will be really screwed.

For now, western countries are patching the problem getting into debt. But that has a limit, and once the country reaches the limit, the fall happens very quickly. Check Greece, where elder people who had been working their whole life had to look for food in the garbage containers. And people in Greece still had the entire EU to migrate and send money back to home. When US and EU will collapse, there will be no such possibility.

The future of western women will be to look for some Chinese husband and get banged for food. That will be the next level of female empowerment. So much for feminism.

reply

[deleted]

What do you think that will happen when western countries collapse?

reply

[deleted]

Debt.

When a country gets around the 200% of debt, look for a life-jacket. Greece bankrupted at 177%. And Greece had the EU helping her, and it's a cohesive and non-polarized society. US? Sweden? Cities will burn.

US will be at 200% in some moment between 2030 and 2040. Germany or France, the same. We're talking here about 15 years until the roller coaster starts. After that, there will be fun. Lots of fun.

Brilliant argument. There's a textbook example of the intellectual might of today's champion of equality. Face it buddy. The war for gender equality for women has been won. It's over. To get the juices of righteousness flowing, the likes of you and Kathleen Kennedy need to amplify minutiae into white male patriarchal oppression.

solo is not better than Rogue One.

Whilst solo is not a disgrace, EVERYONE had bottom of the barrel expectations which is why it isn't copping as much flak.

It is easily the most boring SW film to date.

reply

I agree.
It's kind of like this:
Solo...R1...........EP7..........................................(∞).........................................EP8

But it's sad, how they fucked up the saga. Solo and R1 are ok/entertaining movies, but they aren't needed to be exist at all. EP7 started to grow on me after i was neutral first, but after TLJ i just don't want to see it again. Ever.

pretty much

- Rogue One 7.5/10 (good, not great, but fine fan service while adding something to the lore)

- Solo 6.5/10 (ok, could have been worse)

- Last Jedi 6/10 (well, it's still better than Force Awakens)

- Force awakens 3/10 (an unoriginal and unimaginative rehash cowardly ruining the achievements and arcs of the Original Trilogy)

reply

Disagreed. Rogue One is easily the best of the Disney Star Wars movies. Just those 20 minutes at the end are better than all of the other movies.
