Great and well rounded female lead character as opposed to strong wamen mary sue that is Rey. Fans love Jyn Erso and hate Rey because of that difference. Had they written Rey like Jyn Erso the sequel trilogy would have been better received.

Mary Sue criticisms were only valid up to the point of the Palpatine’s granddaughter twist. Her strong force sensitivity made him a stronger antagonist for the 9 saga films, and that was worth it and increases the rewatchability.
Also, you’ll never convince me this wasn’t planned, with Ian McDiarmid waiting in the wings. Upon reflection, Snoke was so obviously a red herring that we should have seen it coming.
